A storage deal nearly fell apart over setback requirements until the development team got the county commissioner to grant grandfather status. The county's written letter confirming the existing layout saved the project and opened the question of what to do with the buildings next.

And the answer was they convinced the county because there was an application in place. They convinced the county commissioner to give us the approval to grandfather us in legal nonconforming because the former owner acted on their application thinking that it was approved. And so here's the buildings. What are we going to do now with these buildings? So they said, okay, and they wrote us a letter saying that that they accepted the way that the facility is laid out, and they put it in writing.
