A founder ran an agency managing 100 clients at once and burned out. Now they operate differently: they treat client money like their own, tell clients bad news before clients find it, and say that honesty is what builds real trust.

I think at the worst period I would have had 100 clients that I had to manage and get across every month. You can't get results for clients. Everyone was stressed out. I just didn't enjoy it at all. I think that early learning laid the groundwork for the whole ethos of this agency. We try treat the business like it's our own, and I try instill that with the team as well. So they're entrusting us to help us to grow their business. They're giving us money every month. We want to treat that like it's our money and our business, and everything we do is around that. So we're upfront, we're transparent. If we have problems or if something hasn't gone right, we will go to them first rather than them come to us. All those learnings I've taken and sort of said, well, with this agency, we're not going to do those things and we're going to do everything right by the client. And I guess if you speak to some of our clients, they'll probably agree with that because there's been many times where we've gone to them with problems before they've come to us. I guess that builds trust.
