John Kenny shows how a client's anxiety and panic attacks disappeared once they stopped avoiding their real emotions: deep sadness and fear of loss. When the client finally allowed those feelings instead of redirecting them into peripheral worries, they felt immediate relief.

Hi, so just a quick follow-up to the Allowing Your Feelings video that I made. I have just had a client come to see me, who I have not seen in a little while. They originally came with anxiety and panic, and not being able to cope with issues in their life. The reason that they were struggling with that is because they were not facing up to how they really felt about things. I have been struggling with anxiety for a long time. And they weren't able to process how they really felt because of the denial that they were going into. They were fearful of certain situations and found those emotions difficult to cope with. They came back to see me today because they're going through the same experiences, and they're allowing the panic and the anxiety because they're picking on other things to worry about or to be concerned about and not facing up to what's really going on and how they really feel. And in this case, it's, uh, Fear of loss. So there's a sadness about the situation that they're in that they're not being able to cope with. Now that they're able to see that it's the real emotions that they're avoiding, um, just during the session they already started to feel better. So again, it shows the importance of understanding how you really feel. Thank you for watching, and I'll speak to you again soon. Thank you, John Kenny.
