Bacterial canker damages cherry trees through wounds and sap loss, and antibiotics don't stop it. But feeding trees the right nutrients lets them heal themselves over years, turning active cankers dormant without chemicals.

One of the diseases that we've had success with is bacterial canker. That's a disease that affects the vascular tissue of the tree. It creates gumming. It's a bacterium that causes a lot of gum to come out, a lot of sap out of wounds in the tree. And what we found is that it's very difficult to control with any kind of pesticide that you put on, antibiotics or anything like that. But we did find on numerous occasions that through purely nutrition, we were able to have the trees heal themselves. And you could walk through after a few years and you could see where the bacterial canker had been, the cankers themselves, but they were all dormant. They were all inactive. The trees had just overcome it. And that was pretty shocking. That was not what we expected.
