Ethan Darling (an AA agronomist) gives a short on-site check-in from a hazelnut orchard in the Pacific Northwest at the edge of harvest. He reports the trees are starting to drop nuts, have held their leaves through summer heat, and appear healthy — setting up a good harvest this year and healthy buds/catkins for next year.

Hello, this is Ethan Darling. I'm an AA agronomist based in the pnw. And today I'm out here in the hazelnut orchard, and we're right on the edge of harvest. You can see the trees are starting to let go of their nuts, and that's a sign we've been waiting for all season. It's been a good year, keeping these trees healthy and carrying them through the summer heat. They've held their leaves, they've stayed strong. And that sets us up not to just for a good harvest now, but also for healthy buds next year, healthy catkins for next year. This is the payoff moment. Walking the orchard, seeing the crop ready, knowing that the work that went all season is about to come through. So cheers, everybody.
