This is a YouTube video titled "Sap analysis + targeted nutrition = record yields" created in July 2025. It features Mike Omeg, a fifth-generation cherry farmer in Oregon, and Jim Dunlop, a senior agronomist. The content discusses how detailed sap analysis and targeted nutrient applications contributed to an exceptionally high cherry yield, highlighting the agronomy practices and results.
Harvests like this don't happen on accident. Mike Omeg is a fifth generation cherry farmer growing premium cherries in the Dalles, Oregon. He's been working with the AEA agronomy team for almost 10 years. Jim Dunlop, the senior agronomist who worked on Mike's fertility program this year, shared what made this crop so successful. Historical and current season SAP test data helped them understand how much N and K would be needed and when to apply it. They also focused on keeping molybdenum levels high to to reduce nitrate levels in the SAP. Keeping nitrate down reduced aphid and mildew pressure on the trees. Then they applied foliar and soil based applications of aea, bioavailable macro and micronutrients and beneficial microbes to support the developing cherry crop. The result? An exceptionally high yield of large, sweet and firm cherries. And Mike can use his cherry branches as barbells this season because they're just that heavy.
I don't have time in harvest to do much physical exercise, but I like lifting up limbs like this. Check that baby out.
