Field-report style YouTube video by Jeff Klippas from a cotton field in the Coastal Bend region of Texas. The speaker documents potassium deficiency in the cotton, effects of recent weather (windy rain event), and discusses treatments including a “soil primer” product that may help the system recover and mobilize existing soil potassium and phosphorus.
Hello everyone.
This is Jeff Klippas, certified crop advisor and regenerative agriculture consultant for advancing eco agriculture. I'm here in a cotton field in the coastal Bend region of Texas. You may remember me being here a few months ago and we're just trying to get the crop finished out a little low on potassium, which you can.
See in the color of the plant. But we been a little bit of a dry spell and ironically good wet rain event blew through this morning when I was coming out about 40 mile an hour gust. So you know, we can definitely see some of the cotton trying to lay down and whatnot. But we've got a couple of different treatments out here as far as what we're looking at from a simple change to the what the grower is doing. You know, one of the things I like that's coming up is the discussion around soil primer. As we can see here, like I was saying earlier, we have a potassium deficiency and soil primer is definitely a product that can help the system recover and utilize the natural potassium and phosphorus that's in. In the system. I've seen SAP results that a year later that I can pick out which fields have been treated and I fully expect to see the same thing if this grower does decide to go through.
With a soil primer application here this fall. But till next time, we'll see you later.
