Who had the best ads in the Super Bowl last night? Here are my 4 top picks. My number 4 is Bud Light. With 58 cuts in 60 seconds, the commercial keeps our attention the entire time. Creating the Bud Light Genie was also brilliant. This is a campaign that also has a ton of legs that they could use for years. After much controversy, I think Bud Light is back. My number 3 is Doritos. After all, who didn't love these superhero grandmas in their ad who are in chase of the bag of Doritos? The ad is all about the chase. It's not about how star-spangled awesome the product is. You just assume that it's really good. Their names are also Dina and Mita, which is the name of the product, Doritos Dina Mita. It's brilliant. The other thing I love is the opening scenes are shot in a grocery store where Doritos is bought. So the next time you're walking the aisle, the product's gonna be top of mind. And number 2, I'm going with Budweiser again, but for different reasons. Now, here's the crazy thing about Super Bowl ads. They cost $7 million for 30 seconds, but an individual celebrity might charge you as much as $10 million. So how does Budweiser get around this? They've serialized their content, so the Clydesdales become the celebs themselves. So this year, I would suggest taking a page out of Budweiser's marketing book and serializing more content. Probably save you money and get customers to lean in much more. It also gives you an iconic asset that you can use over and over and over again. And my number 1 pick is— well, it's not what you think, and unfortunately I've run out of time. So I'm gonna post it tomorrow.
