BaGua Guided Meditation

An 8-minute guided meditation moving through the eight trigrams of the I Ching, each paired with imagery and breath work. You'll ground through earth and mountain, flow through water and fire, and end with a sense of wholeness tied to the Tao.
Chapters
Find a comfortable position. Let your body settle. Let the breath return to its natural rhythm. Like waves arriving and receding. Each inhale, return. Each exhale, release. There is nothing to do, nowhere to be. This is a space for being, and in this field of being, everything is allowed. You may sense that all of what you are— body, mind, spirit, sensation— Emotion is simply arising within this larger awareness, and this awareness is the Tao. The ground of all being. The source from which all things unfold, including you. And now we begin a journey inward through the Ba Gua, the 8 guas of the I Ching, each one a doorway, each one a A healing. The first being, Kun. Earth. The Great Mother. Receptive power. Feel the support beneath you, the gravity that holds you. You are not falling. You are being held. Earth is the womb of form. She receives everything without resistance, without judgment. Let your body rest. Let your nervous system settle. You do not need to strive here. You are enough as you are.
Whisper within.
I allow myself to be supported. I soften into the ground of being. Let the breath gently deepen. A wave moving in and out. The second gua is zhen.
Mountain. Stillness. Boundaries. Presence.
From the earth rises the mountain. Still.
Unmoving.
Feel this stillness now in your bones, in your spine. In the very center of you. This is the body's boundary, the strength to say no. The space to say yes with intention. You may sense now the part of you that simply watches, not needing to respond.
Just being.
Whisper within, I am allowed to be still. My presence is enough. Let the exhale be long, like wind down a mountainside. The third Gua is Kan.
Water.
Emotion. Depth.
Water. Adaptation.
Now imagine water flowing down the mountain. Cool, cleansing, deep. Water moves where it's needed, and now it moves through your emotional body, gently washing away fear, shame, or contraction. You don't have to fix the feeling. Just allow it to move. Let it be fluid. Let it soften. Whisper within, my emotions are allowed. They are messengers, and they can flow. Allow the inhale to rise like a tide and the exhale to fall like a stream. The 4th Gua is Shen. Heaven. Creative spirit. Vision.
Higher mind.
Above the water, the sky opens. Vast. Infinite. Expansive. This is the realm of vision, of possibility, of thought without pressure. Let your mental body relax. No need to know. No need to be right. Let your thoughts float like clouds dissolving into sky.
Whisper within.
I open to spaciousness. There is a wisdom beyond knowing. Let your awareness expand beyond the body into the sky of mind. The 5th Gua is Kun.
Wind. Wood. Growth.
Flexibility.
Integration.
Now the wind moves through the sky.
Gentle. Nourishing.
Like breath through a forest canopy. This is the realm of growth, where insight becomes integration and healing begins to spread. You don't have to force your growth. It is already happening. Like branches reaching for sunlight. Whisper within, I allow what is ready to grow. I bend without breaking.
Inhale as an opening.
Exhale as a soft spiral inward. The 6th gua is Li, fire.
Illumination. Heart. Radiance.
From wind comes fire.
Warm. Bright. Alive.
This is your heart's truth. This is where parts of you may long to be seen. Not fixed, just witnessed. Bring your awareness to the chest. Feel warmth there, like a gentle flame inviting all your parts home. Whisper within, it's safe to be seen. It's safe to be seen. My truth is part of the whole. Let your breath glow like embers. Steady and alive. The 7th gua is zhen, thunder, awakening.
Movement.
Power. Now the fire strikes the ground, and thunder moves through the roots. This is the moment of awakening. You may feel activation or stirrings of old patterning. Even this is welcome. Let the energy rise. Let it move. You are strong enough to witness it. Whisper within, I welcome the energy of change. I trust what is moving through me. Inhale into the base of the spine. Exhale up the length of the body. The 8th gua is dui, lake. Joy, receiving, completion. Now comes the lake after the storm. Clear, still, with gentle ripples of joy. This is the sweetness. Not forced, not pursued, just received. Let your heart open to the idea that joy is natural. That peace is not something you earn, it's something you allow. Whisper within, I receive joy without effort. I am open to delight. Let the breath feel like sipping cool water. Soft.
Refreshing.
And now you have journeyed through all 8 guas. All 8 bodies have been included. Each one a doorway to the Tao. Each one a movement toward wholeness. Sense the ocean beneath you, the sky above you, the field within and beyond. This awareness is always here. You don't need to understand how it heals, only that it can and does and will. Breathe in and feel yourself whole. Breathe out and release everything else. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. Just this. Now. You are home.
