Chapters
Find a comfortable position, sitting or lying down. Allow your body to be fully supported by the ground beneath you. Take a gentle breath in and let it flow out naturally. There is nothing you need to control, nothing to make happen. Your body knows how to heal. Your breath knows how to breathe. All you are asked to do is to allow. To just welcome and allow. Notice your breath moving in, And moving out. Like the ocean waves, always rising, always falling, always returning. Each inhale, a wave gathering, swelling with life. Each exhale, a wave rolling back into stillness. Feel the turning of the breath, the gentle moment where the inhale softens into the exhale, and the exhale softens Into the inhale. In the Taoist yin and yang symbol, within the yin, there is always a seed of yang. And within the yang, a seed of yin. In every inhale, the exhale is already present. In every exhale, the inhale is already beginning. 2 opposites continuously giving birth to one another. Moving synchronously, rhythmically. As one whole. As you breathe, feel this yin-yang rhythm alive in you. The ocean breathing itself through your body. Now bring your awareness to the lower belly. Just below the navel. This is the Dan Tian, the center of life force. Breathe gently into this place. As you inhale, the belly softens, expands, fills. And as you exhale, the belly returns, releasing with ease. Now let this breath energy flow into the lower back as well, supporting the spine. And with each inhale, let it rise upward, vertebra by vertebra. Up the central column. Expanding up through the ribs and back. Releasing any tension. Breathing up into the space of the upper back behind the heart. As the energy and breath and your awareness moves up the central column, up behind the collarbones, out into the shoulders, up and through your cervical spine, Moving out into the limbs, down through your arms, all the way down to the fingers, up the central column to the base of the skull. And continuing through the crown of the head. And reaching up above the head, above the crown. As you exhale, let the breath and energy flow downward, back down to the Dan Tian. And as you inhale, let the energy expand out and up. And you can expand down on the next inhale through the hips and pelvis. And as you exhale, the energy and breath can return to the Dan Tian.
Dan Tian.
And as you inhale, the energy and the breath and awareness can move down the legs. And as you exhale, it can return back to center. And you can continue breathing this way, center to periphery. Periphery to center. Expanding the energy in your breath and awareness until you feel the energy expanding all the way to your toes and your fingertips, to the crown of your head. Continuing to breathe this way, even deeper. Allowing the energy to extend outward from the Dan Tian into the arms, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands. Every finger alive with breath. And breathing down through the hips, the pelvis, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, feet, toes. Breathing into the belly, Rising up the back while flowing down through the legs. Rising up through the back and out through the arms. Up through the crown.
Down through the legs.
Down through the feet. Your whole body is breathing. Your whole body is alive with energy. Now bring attention to the surface of your body, the skin. Feel the subtle boundary where you meet the world. Beneath the skin, feel the muscles, strong yet soft, supporting, holding, moving you. Deeper still, feel the blood, rivers of life, carrying warmth and nourishment through every part. Further in, feel the bones, Solid, enduring, ancient in their strength. And beneath it all, the subtle energy. Qi flowing through channels unseen, yet deeply felt. Notice how awareness can rest in each layer. Skin, Muscles.
Blood. Bones. Energy.
Notice how awareness itself has no boundary. Now let your attention soften outward into the space just around you. As if your awareness is gently expanding like a glow. You can remember how sometimes you can feel when someone enters a room even before you see them. Your senses already reach beyond your skin. You are not limited to this body. You inhabit it as awareness, a vast space. Let yourself rest here, within the body and beyond the body. No inside, No outside.
Only presence.
As you rest in this spacious presence, sense the 8 forces of the Tao surrounding and flowing through you.
Heaven.
Clarity, inspiration, light.
Earth.
Nourishment, stability, support.
Thunder.
Awakening, vitality, new beginnings.
Wind.
Breath, subtle movement, Gentle penetration.
Water. Depth. Mystery. Healing flow.
Fire.
Warmth.
Illumination. Transformation.
Mountain.
Stillness.
Peace.
Presence.
Lake.
Joy.
Reflection.
Abundance. All of these live within you. All of them are balancing, restoring, and harmonizing your being. Now imagine yourself as water, sometimes a still pond, calm, Reflective. Sometimes a flowing river, winding gently and powerfully. Sometimes a vast ocean, deep and boundless. Sometimes mist rising into the sky. Sometimes snow Resting lightly on the mountain. Water never forces, and yet it shapes the world. This is wu-wei.
Effortless harmony.
Let your healing flow like water. Soft, yielding, unstoppable. Now imagine a soft light, like sunlight passing through a prism. This light carries every color, every frequency of healing. See it bathing your cells, your organs, your blood, your brain. Flowing into your heart, your liver, your lungs, your nervous system, your entire body, cleansing, renewing, Energizing. You are made of light, and this light radiates through you and far beyond you, connecting you with the great web of life. Now imagine going inward, deeper, And deeper into the molecules, the atoms, the photons, the pure waves of energy. Until you arrive at the Tao, the ground of all being, the stillness that is also movement. The nothing that contains everything. Here you rest as pure awareness, timeless, infinite. And from here, Allow your awareness to expand outward into the vast sky, the stars, galaxies, the entire universe. You are here and everywhere, the Tao experiencing itself through you. And as you rest in this vast awareness, your nervous system resets, calms, restores. Your mind grows quiet, safe. Your reticular activating system now scans for peace, safety, healing, vitality.
Progress.
Every cell, every system of your being moves naturally toward wholeness. Healing is happening now, naturally. Easily, effortlessly. Take a slow, gentle breath, feeling your body once again. Feel the boundary of your skin, the ground beneath you, the air around you. Know that you are whole, already complete. You are water. You are light. You are sky. You are Tao. And from this vast self, healing flows into every part of your life. Rest in this truth. And when you are ready, gently open your eyes.
