Best Day of the Year! September 13, 2018: Make a Wish!

Joni Patry explains how she chooses auspicious event times using Vedic lunar methods (pachanga) with emphasis on the Moon’s nakshatra, tithi, and especially planetary aspects to the Moon. She recommends favoring Moon aspects from natural benefics (Jupiter and Venus), avoiding malefics (Saturn, Mars, Ketu), and using waxing/waning phase for starting vs finishing projects. She highlights September 13 (year implied by title: 2018) as an especially auspicious day because the Moon will be sandwiched by Jupiter and Venus in Libra (a Shubha Katori yoga), with the Moon moving into the Vishaka nakshatra later in the day.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I'd like to talk about Prashna and how we can talk about choosing times for events. What is the best time to do something? And the way that I like to do it is I always look at the moon. Now in Indian Vedic astrology we have the pachanga, which is actually a lunar calendar on how to pretty much plan your events around the calendar and the planets. But I like to make more focus on the moon. See, pachanga means five and then it's talking about the lunar calendar. So pachanga deals with basically the Nakshatra of the moon, the tithi of the moon, which is all of these are in relationship of the sun with the moon.
It's like the lunar calendar that we have in Western astrology that people pretty much used for planting the Farmer's Almanac. But it deals with the Tithi, the Yoga, the Karna and the Vara. Now, vara is what day of the week it is. And specifically certain days are better to do things. For example, Saturday is ruled by Saturn. It's a time to fast and practice. Particularly it's not a day to get married, which in western culture that's the day that everyone gets married. But in India, they would never get married on a Saturday because it's ruled by Saturn. So we have Mondays ruled by the moon, Tuesday is ruled by Mars, Wednesday is ruled by Mercury, Thursday is ruled by Jupiter, Saturday's ruled by Saturn. And guess what rules Sunday? The Sun. And guess what rules Monday? The Moon. So that's the Vara. That is something to consider, but it's not the top of my list. At the top of my list is going to be, aside from all the cycles, the tithi, the nakshatra of the moon, which is very important. A lot of people use tarabala. But what I want to talk about today is what I look for most importantly, and it works beautifully. That is the aspects to the moon. Now, the moon will Transit through all 12 signs every month. And it's going to form aspects all the time, but it changes signs about every two and a half days and it actually changes one degree every two hours. So I'm always watching the moon when I'm choosing a time for events. There's many other things that we can look for. Planetary hours. We can look at the planets as they go across the horizon because in a 24 hour period of time, all of the planets will rise on the eastern horizon. It's like that's the Earth spin and as the Earth spins, all the planets spin through the different houses according to what's rising. But let's get down to business. What I look for is when the moon is aspected by the natural benefics which most powerfully are going to be Jupiter and Venus. So I would never plan an important day when the moon is conjunct. The malefics such as the moon being conjunct, Ketu, Saturn, Mars. No, these are not going to be the best times to make plans. If I'm going to have a social event where I bring people together for a happy transaction party, I'm going to look for Jupiter. Either conjunct a pose or in trine to the moon. Okay, that's number one. I look for number two. Where's Venus? Venus is the other benefic. Is Venus conjunct or opposed the moon? Those are the most powerful for Venus and Mercury is considered a benefic. But when Mercury is with other planets, it takes on the energy of that planet. So Mercury is very changeable. It could be conjunct Rahu or Saturn and it's going to take on those qualities. So but you put Mercury with Venus. Beautiful. It's a very good Mercury. Another thing to look for is the moon increasing in light or decreasing in light. In other words, is it waxing or is it waning? And that's a good thing to look for in terms of when the moon is waxing, increasing in light. It's time to start projects that you want to grow. When the moon is waning, you want, that's the time to finish up projects you've already started. So these are all cycles that you can use invariably for all your events in life. But for planning events, look at the moon, what it's aspecting, if it's with Jupiter and aspecting the benefics. So here is something I want to leave you with the that I think you're going to find enlightening at this time. There is a date coming up and it is September 13th. September 13th is a very, very auspicious day according to my rules. And that is the day that Venus will be in Libra. Jupiter's in Libra. Now let me remind you, Jupiter and Venus are not necessarily friends to each other in the scheme of Vedic astrology. They're, they're actually arch enemies because they both are the leaders of their camps. So they're the leaders of opposing camps. But what's wedged between these two benefic planets is the moon on that day. So the Moon is what we call a Shubha Qatari Yoga. Because when you have something sandwiched in by benefics, it's called Shubha Katori. It means that planet really prospers and has freedom and can grow. So the moon, the most specific determinant of events and what we're feeling will have Jupiter on one side and Venus on the other side. Now all three, of course Jupiter, Moon and Venus will be in Libra. Venus is most powerful in Libra. I know it's exalted in Pisces, but I love Venus in Libra. So all about the arts and creative and beauty.
So on the other side we have Jupiter. Now Jupiter doesn't necessarily love to be in the sign of Libra, but it's in the Nakshatra Vishaka which means great victory, it means the undefeated. It's going to really be strong there because the Nakshatra Vishaka is ruled by Jupiter. So we have the moon in Vishaka. This is going to be later in the day, earlier in the day it's in Swati, which I don't particularly like the moon in the Nakshatrasvati because it's ruled by Rahu. So I was looking at later in the second portion of the day when the moon goes into the Nakshatra Vishaka, it will be a Nakshatra that's ruled by Jupiter. So the moon is empowered by Jupiter. And if you start anything on that day, for those of you that know Vedic astrology.
You will start it out in the Jupiter Maha Dasha. Because where the moon is what Nakshatra, it's in what rules that Nakshatra starts the whole Dasha sequence. So these are some of the reasons why I think this day is so powerful. And one more thing, the Bara, it will be Thursday and Thursday is ruled by Jupiter. And the time I'm using, I actually chose this time to begin. By the way, my next big beginning for my university, University of Vedic Astrology, I'm starting a whole new group of students that day because the power of that day actually started at 6:30pm in Dallas. Dallas, Texas is where my home base is. So I start at 6:30 because I have the moon in Bashaka at that time and even the planetary hour is Venus. So this is all powerful day. And by the way, I might as well throw this out at you. If you want to start with me with the University of Vedic Astrology, start on that day and you can go to my website, sign up. It's universityofvedicastrology.com if you want to start taking classes with a large group of people that it's all online, read about it. It's amazing. But on top of that, if you're not interested in learning astrology, use that day for any auspicious thing that you want to do or start or have planned. This is an incredible, fabulous, important day, but it's also a lesson here on how to choose specific auspicious days for certain events. So with that, I'd like to close. If you would like more information on me, you can always go to my website, which is galactic center.org or if you would like to learn Vedic astrology once again, let me just put another plug in. It is universityofvedicastrology.com thank you.
