Joni Patry (YouTube, Nov 2, 2015) explains Rahu and Ketu (the moon's north and south nodes) as destiny markers in Vedic astrology: Rahu represents material gains (with a cost), Ketu represents loss paired with spiritual insight. They are always 180° opposite (same degree in opposite signs). The speaker emphasizes that the effect of Rahu/Ketu depends on the ascendant and then gives a house-by-house account of life lessons tied to Rahu (and opposite Ketu) placements — e.g., Rahu in 1st/ Ketu 7th → personal self-identity lessons through relationships; Rahu 2nd/ Ketu 8th → money and values vs others' money; Rahu 3rd/ Ketu 9th → learning, travel, sibling dynamics; Rahu 4th/ Ketu10th → mother, security, home vs career; Rahu 5th → creativity/children/mind; Rahu 6th → health/healing (noted by speaker as a favorable placement); Rahu 7th → relationships/partners; Rahu 8th → inheritances/others' money; Rahu 9th → travel, search for truth, strong/overbearing father; Rahu 10th → career success with possible family/home loss; Rahu 11th → birth order/sibling dominance issues. Advice: know your Vedic ascendant (sidereal) to interpret house placements.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Today I want to talk about one of the most significant things that I pay attention to when, when I'm looking at a birth chart and that is the placement of Rahu and Ketu which Rahu is the north node of the moon and Ketu is the south node of the moon. What they are about is our destiny. What brings us into this world and what takes us out of this world. Rahu is all about gains, but with a price. Ketu is all about loss. But with spirituality and enlightenment one gives us the world of material things which is Rahu. One takes away because us the world of spirituality. What is beyond this world. So as we look at these dimensions that are completely opposite in our chart, we can see our destiny, our fate, our what we're destined to learn in this lifetime. Because you see this is what our whole incarnation is all about. So Rahu is the point in space where the moon crosses the ecliptic which is the path of the sun around the earth. As the moon hits that ecliptic going upward, that's Rahu. As the moon crosses that eclipse going downward, that path of the sun, that's Ketu. They are always exactly 180 degrees opposite. So you'll notice their degrees are the same but in opposite signs. So these are opposites but how are they going to affect you personally? Well that depends on your ascendant. So what you need to do is know what your ascendant sign is which you can if you're un. Unclear in the Vedic sidereal chart. You can find your Vedic ascendant by going to my website and going to the free chart calculator. It is galactic center.org and figure out what your Ascendant sign is. Because dependent on what house Rahu and Ketu are in will really depend on what it is you came here to learn.
A soul in this lifetime. So important. So if you're, if you're, Rahu and Ketu are in, if Rahu is in the first house in Ketu is in the seventh. It's going to be all about you understanding what you came here to learn as a person individually, your sense of self, your sense of purpose, your sense of being, the ego and K2 the opposite. These issues you will learn through relationships. So if you have Rahu in the second house in Ketu in the eighth house, the money, the issues are going to be around money and what you personally value in this world. Second house matters. So that involves finances and learning how to balance money and what it is you value most in this world. And these things will teach you your greatest money. And the eighth house, where Ketu is, is other people's money and maybe something to do with how you work with giving and receiving on a financial level and with others money.
It'll be all about money issues. If you have Rahu in the third house and Ketu in the ninth house, you're going to find you've come to learn through education, through learning experiences, through travel, and possibly you got some real issues with your siblings, particularly the youngest. And sometimes when Ketu is in the third house, there are no siblings beneath you. You are the youngest one. If you have rahu in the fourth house, that means Ketu's in the 10th house. There are always going to be some kind of issues to work through with your mother, with your sense of security, are you secure? You will never feel that secure. No matter how much you have. You always feel like any minute the carpet could be ripped out from underneath you. But that's what you're here to learn, to gather and find your sense of self and security. And that will come through.
Home, family property, real estate, those matters. If you have Rahu in the fifth house, you're going to find there's going to be some major lessons through children or lack of children, but there's going to be something about this force of creativity. You see, children are simply a part of what we create in this world. Things we create that live beyond us, whether it's art, whether it's children, whether it has anything to do with how we express ourselves in this world. And it's also the mind. So when you have Rahu in the fifth, you're a constant worrier. You gotta let things go. Rahu in the six, maybe some health matters, but always Rahu is actually best placement in the sixth house. And when it is there, you're going to have. You're going to be a healer on some level. Whether or not you give to charities, foundations, or you work with health and healing yourself. If you have Rahu in the seventh, this is all about relationships. You will find that you will be attracted to partners that are bigger than life, but teach you your biggest lessons that you came here to learn. Also be aware of business partnerships. You will have very powerful people in your life. Rahu in the eighth, there's something for you to learn through money with other people. Inheritance, your partner's money, the money that you acquire through marriage and relationships. If you have Rahu in the ninth, very powerful, overbearing father. But you will travel far and wide and gain great information. Always looking for the truth. If you have rahu in the 10th house, it's all about your career. You will be a major success in life. Many things will be granted and given to you. But you will have to move many times and maybe there's a loss around home and family because you're usually at work. RAHU in the 11th House, you might be the oldest one in your family because there's no one above you in the birth order. But if you do have older siblings, there can be some issues, pressing problems over their dominance and overbearing character. But they will be very, very successful and you will have very.
Influential and very powerful friends. Take advantage of that. Remember, it's not sometimes what you know, it's who you know. So if you have RAHU in the 12th house, this could be travels far and wide to many countries, connection to foreigners. And you will have an interest in health and healing because that puts ketu in the sixth. And there you go. This covers all 12 signs of the zodiac. This is your karma. This is your destiny with Rahu and Ketu. If you need more information, please go to my website, galacticenter. Org. Thank you.
