Karakas: How to find other people in your chart

Speaker Joni Patry explains the Vedic-astrology concept of karakas — planets that indicate specific people in a natal chart. She lists planet-person correspondences (Sun=father; Moon=mother; Mars=siblings; Jupiter=children; Venus=partner/relationships) and house-person correspondences (3rd=siblings; 4th=mother; 5th=children; 7th=relationships/marriage; 9th=father). She states a working rule: when a karaka occupies the house that corresponds to the same person, that concentrates energy and can cause problems (examples: Mars in 3rd causing issues with siblings; Moon in 4th creating an overly sensitive mother).

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie, and welcome to my YouTube channel. Today I want to talk about planets in your chart as they relate to certain people in your life. And I call these planets Karakas. Karaka means indicator of something. So there's certain planets that represent people all by themselves, irregardless of how they're placed in your chart. For example, the karkas I want to talk about are the sun as being the karaka, or indicator of the father. The moon is the karka, or indicator of the mother. Mars represents brothers and sisters or siblings.
Jupiter represents children. And Venus can represent relationships. And in Vedic astrology, it is thought to be the wife in a man's chart. But I think that it really is relative to right relationships in male and female's chart. So we're going to look at Venus as the karka for relationships, therefore the partner. Now, there are certain houses that represent these people as well, and I want to go through those. For example, the third house is the house for brothers and sisters. The fourth house is the house of the mother. The fifth house is the house of children. The seventh house is the house for relationships and marriage. And the ninth house, not the tenth house in Vedic astrology is the father. So what I'm talking about today is when you put the karaka, or the planet that indicates a person in the house that's relative to the person, then this is way too much energy and it can cause problems for these people in our lives. For example, if you take Mars, karika of brothers and sisters, and you put it in the third house of brothers and sisters, there will be issues and problems with the brother or sister, particularly most specifically the youngest one, because the third house generally is all of our brothers and sisters, but can more specifically denote the youngest one or the. Or a younger one. But altogether it's brothers and sisters. Mars in the third causes problems there.
When you put the moon in the fourth house, it can represent an overly sensitive mother, too much energy, Moon in the fourth. But I will add to this, it's kind of an exception to this rule. The moon in the fourth can represent.
It has digbala. Digbala means certain planets get strength in certain houses and the moon gets digbala in the fourth house. So it's not totally terrible to have the moon, of course, in the fourth house, but it can represent an overly sensitive mother. Jupiter in the fifth house. You would think this means many children, but essentially it doesn't. It can be lack of children. So pay attention to that. Venus in the seventh house, you think Great beautiful wife, beautiful relations, but too much energy. This can represent probably that your partner has many, many people that are attracted to them, or there's just something that's over the top. Too much energy that can harm relationships. If you have the sun in the ninth house, this can cause an overbearing father, because the sun is the father. And in the ninth house, it's way too much energy. So it causes harm or problems in the relationship, or that the father has problems. So this is what I'm talking about. The karakas being in the houses of what they represent actually harm the issues around these people in our life. Now, another way that you can add to this to get more information, to make sure that what you're looking at is correct in this instance is if the planet that is Corica for these people is debilitated in its debilitation sign, this can cause problems for that person. So if you have Jupiter in Capricorn, it's debilitated and it can cause problems for children. If you have the sun in Libra, weakness for the father, okay, Moon in Scorpio, weakness with the mother, Venus in Virgo, problems around relationships, Mars in cancer, problems with brothers or sisters. So that's another layer you can add. Furthermore, you'll want to look at where the ruler of each house goes. And when you have three things that represent that there's a problem, you can make a positive prediction. So for example, the ruler of the third house, representing brothers and sisters, if it goes to the three Destana houses that cause problems, 6, 8 and 12, you know you're going to have some issues. So what I'm saying is the karika in that house, what it represents? Mars in the third, if the ruler of the third house goes to a difficult house, houses 6, 8 and 12, and if Mars is debilitated, you can rest assured there's some kind of issues in this lifetime for brothers and sisters. So you would do that with all of the planets and houses, but I mean rulers of each house, where it goes in terms of difficulty. But remember this. My point with this class is to remember that karikas in their house, at their karika of is not a good thing generally, but you have to find other rhyme and reason to back up and support what you're seeing. Okay, so with that I'd like to close. If you would like more information, you can always go to my website, which is Galactic Center.org. thank you.
