Moon in Capricorn: Successful and Most Ambitious of the Zodiac

Transcript of a YouTube video by astrologer Joni Patry explaining the meaning and implications of having the Moon in Capricorn in Vedic astrology. The speaker describes Capricorn’s general traits (earth sign, ruled by Saturn, career- and success-oriented), explains how a Moon in Capricorn influences life and Dasha sequencing, and breaks down the Capricorn degrees into three Nakshatras—Uttara Ashada (0°–10°), Shravana (10°–23°20'), and Dhanishta (23°20'–29°59')—with characteristic attributes, deities, symbols, and typical life themes for each.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. So today I want to talk about if you have a moon in Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. And Capricorns are generally pretty reserved, although I've known some pretty interesting Capricorns. But they're going to be somebody who are more focused and really trying to succeed in a powerful way, whether it be in the material world or even the spiritual world. Because when you think about Capricorns.
It'S actually the sea goat, which has the tail of a fish but the head of a goat. What in the world does that mean? Well, it means the same thing that in Vedic astrology, the symbol for Capricorn is a crocodile. So it actually means that they can be of two different realms, such as being in water, as the crocodile is and the sea goat, as well as on land. And that means that they can really operate in the spiritual world as well as the materialistic world, which I think is very important. Okay, let me stop right there because I want to remind everyone to sign up for my free newsletter while you're paying attention, because you can have all of my predictions delivered to your email address. And also check out my spiritual jewelry, all on Galactic Center.org. so with that, let's go back to talking about the diversity of the sign of Capricorn. Because people used to, especially when I was a Western astrologer, they would talk about Capricorn as being the sign of the social climber, always climbing to the top, always wanting to be on top of things, you know, not very spiritual, if I might say. But think about it like this. Capricorn is the sign of somebody that's always wanting to achieve things. So Capricorn is, is an Earth sign. So of course it is of the earth, as we say, the salt of the earth. They're grounded in this world. They love this world. They love the material things of this world. So Capricorn is about material wealth and getting, getting to a point where you really are goal oriented. And this is interesting because the sign Capricorn ruled by Saturn and Saturn and Capricorn are affiliated with the 10th house. Capricorn is the 10th sign. So it deals with career issues and success and focus or wanting to achieve these Things get to climb that ladder of success that will give you what the finer things in life bring. But Saturn is the disciplinarian. So Saturn being the ruler, they know what it takes when they are so gold oriented, to achieve and find success. But there is a sweet, soft side to Capricorn. They have this generosity and they are part of worldly things. So there's this great generosity and giving, but this shrewdness that makes them very good in business. And so they are very balanced in both worlds. That's what I'll say. A balanced Capricorn is a successful one. So let's talk a little bit more about not just the qualities of the Earthiness, the success, the career issues, let's talk about certain portions of if your moon is in Capricorn because this will determine your whole Dasha sequence too. Because the moon is the most important aspect in a Vedic chart, aside from the Ascendant. That's why I felt compelled to do a series on the moon. If your moon is. And remember, you can always find your Vedic positions on my website, my free chart calculator. You want to know exactly where your moon is to be able to figure out what Nakshatra your moon is in. So if your moon sits from 0 degrees of Capricorn to 10 degrees of Capricorn, then your moon sits in the Nakshatra called Uttara Ashada. Uttara Ashada is the Nakshatra that deals with finding the truth and being honest and fair. Uttara Ashra can never tell a lie. They're always, always truthful and focused in the material world, in business. Those that have their moon here will be that way. But they will be so fair in business and work so hard for their achievements. Because Uttara Ishada is actually ruled by the sun and the sun is very gold oriented. The sun is very career oriented. People with a moon and Uttara Ashada will be focused in being successful with their work and their career. Now they start out life in the Sun's Maha Dasha, that sun cycle which you know will give them great strengths as a child, make them healthy, strong. But I always think the Nakshatra you start life out in.
Which is the sun in this case, kind of reflects a whole image of who you are, which is a powerful business person, an entrepreneur, if I could say in many respects. But here's another aspect of what this Nakshatra can mean. Uttara Ashara is the universal star. So it deals with.
Really being so worldly in such a sense and high minded universal star. Many People with this Nakshatra have artistic or musical ability, such as any of the arts, but they're extraordinarily persistent. They do not give up. Its symbol is an elephant tusk, which is a powerful image of strength.
But.
Another thing about this that I think is wonderful is, is that the second part of life.
Is better than the first. Why? Because it's said to be the latter victory. And remember, anytime you see the Nakshatras where you see Uttara or Purva, Purva means former success earlier in life. Uttara means latter success later in life. So that's one of the things that they can count on. Things are going to get better because they're so focused in their lifetime. Now, let's talk about some of the stars here. This is where Vega is, which is in the lyre. The lyre. And that's why it deals with musical ability. The music of the lyre, which in Greek myth is always seen to be played and creates a beautiful, beautiful harmony. But talking about the Nakshatra in terms of the gods, the Vishwadevas are what ruled this Nakshatra. And These are the 10 Suns that are full of beautiful attributes of virtue, honesty, truth, giving. And this is one of the most powerful, sweetest, kindest Nakshatras because of their truthfulness and honesty with the Vishwadevas. And they also grant great victory. So as it says, ladder victory, this is all part of this universal star which sits at the first 10 degrees of Capricorn. Now let's go to. If your moon sits in degrees, 10 degrees of Capricorn to 23 degrees, 20 minutes. So this means that your moon is in the Nakshatra Shravana. And Shravana is ruled by the moon. So this is extreme, extraordinarily positive to have your moon in Shravana. And it also means you start out your life in the. In the Nakshatra or the dasha of the moon.
And the moon means you're going to be close to your mother. There's this affiliation with the mom and emotions and high degree of sensitivity by you having your moon in Shravana. But Shravana is considered the star of listening. Its symbol is an ear. So people with this Nakshatra are incredible listeners. Therefore, they make great counselors. They make great healers to help people by listening, counseling psychology. But at the same time, I find that people that have this Nakshatra strong, which means if your moon's there, it's incredibly strong, that you love books, you love reading, and you're probably a good writer as well. But your gemstones in this world are your books. And you have the most magnificent libraries because you can't give books away. They're so valuable to you. Knowledge is everything. Knowledge is of value to you. That's why there is this affinity and love of books and writing the word. It's a very creative Nakshatra as well. And the deity is Vishnu and Vishnu is the preserver of the universe. So it is this powerful protector that you feel like this is such a good spirited Nakshatra. Now, there are three stars in this Nakshatra that are the head of the eagle and it's also known as the three footprints of Vishnu. And this is said the three footprints of Vishnu means they're able to travel to the three worlds. What do you think that means? Well, I think those three worlds have to do with our conscious mind, our subconscious mind and the superconscious. But it also pertains particularly to body, mind and spirit, which is like the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, which one is the physical and one is the spiritual and the other one is the mental. So there's all of this that really combines together to what? Knowledge, information and just an incredible amount of wisdom that comes with this Nakshatra. I love this Nakshatra. And it is also known to be a very restless Nakshatra because they love to travel, love to go places, and because they're so good at listening, one thing that they can get trapped in is listening to gossip. And that's never really a good thing, although they find it fascinating. And one more thing that I find that's relative to this Nakshatra is that they usually have, not always, but usually they have disappointment in early life. So that disappointment usually is what gives them wisdom and knowledge to better conduct their lives in the second part. So there's disappointment early on, but later it helps. So let's talk about. If your moon sits in after 23 degrees, 20 minutes of Capricorn till the end of the sign till 29 degrees, 59 minutes, then you've got your moon sits in the Nakshatra called Dhanista. And Danishta is actually said to be the richest one. So having your moon here usually bestows great wealth to you. But Dhanishta is ruled by Mars. And this makes this kind of a more cutting placement for. For the moon to be a little bit rougher and tougher and.
A bit more shrewd, if I might say. So that's because of the Martian energy, Mars being there. Now, the symbol is the drum or the flute. And I find that those with this Nakshatra strong have a certain sense of rhythm. They can dance, they love music. They can sometimes play music because the cymbals are musical instruments for this Nakshatra. But at the same time, let's talk a second about what the drum is and the flute, they're instruments that are hollow. So there's something that always feels like it's missing to people with the moon. And Dhanista, Therefore, this Nakshatra does deal with problems in married life, relationships. Now, that's not to say it's always the case, but there are problems that through work are come to realizations where relationships can work. But that comes through the hard work of going through the difficult relationships that that people with the moon in this Nakshatra may experience. Now, because you start life out in Mars, Mahadasha, early childhood isn't all that easy. Mars is harsh and angry. So there's some issues that have to be worked out early on. Now, another interesting thing about this star, which is actually called the star of Saturn Symphony. Therefore it's definitely about musical rhythm, timing. You know, I find that people with this Nakshatra are always at the right place at the right time. That's their, their intuitive sense of timing, knowing where to be, things just fall into place. But the star of Symphony, which could be musical, also deals with real estate. And I do find people with this Nakshatra strong. Being their moon, being there, are successful with real estate. Mars rules real estate. Remember that this is great. And this star is ruled by the eight vases, which actually they are extremely indicative of abundance. Abundance. So. And the stars that are in this portion of the zodiac are at the head of the dolphin. This is an amazing star, full of richness, power, success, money, real estate.
And intelligence. But because of the strong nature, relationships can be an issue. They can have problems. So that needs to be understood and worked out. So after I've covered all of the degrees in the sign of having your moon in the sign of Capricorn, I hope I have given you a much deeper appreciation and knowledge of you have your moon in the sign of Capricorn. So with that, I'd like to close. Remember, if you would like to study Vedic astrology with me, go to my university website, which is universityofvedicastrology.com thank you.
