Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I want to talk about the moon. The moon is probably the most important planet in your chart. And I say this because it represents your mind, it represents intelligence. And your mind, you may not be aware of, is really directed by your emotions and your feelings. Because we may think we're making some very logical choices in life, but they are basically chosen by the way we feel and what dictates the way we feel our emotions. And that is through our mind, which is ruled by the moon, all of this. So the moon represents our feelings, our emotions, and it filters everything in our life by how we feel. So that's our responses, that's our judgments, that's the way we react in life. What we react to is based on how we feel. So that's many times why people can be so emotional about politics, because it really does reflect how a person feels about things. And this is all about the moon. Now, another thing that the moon does in a chart amongst so many things. But in Vedic astrology, it really sets up the entire experience of life when you will experience certain stages and cycles based on where your natal moon is in your chart. Wherever your natal moon is, what nakshatra it's in.
That will be depending on what planet rules that Nakshatra, that will be the beginning cycle that you enter into life, that will be your maha dasha ruling cycle. And then all the other cycles that come after come into the sequential order of these dashas. But the beginning dasha that determines this whole sequential order that comes into play in your life is based on the degree placement of your natal moon. To give you an idea how important this is. And many have been known to say that Vedic astrology is a lunar based system and Western astrology is a solar based system. Because we use the dashas based on the moon. Western tropical astrology is based on the seasons which are based on the sun. But going back to the importance of where your natal moon is in a chart, I felt like it was so pertinent that I talk about the moon that I was compelled to write a book about it. So just recently, about a week ago, I put out new book. This is the old cover. It actually has a new cover now, but it's called Moon Mind in Consciousness. And I'm going to tell you a little bit about what's in this book so you can get a better feel. But you can purchase this book on Amazon. So if you're interested, it is also in a paperback of course, what I have here and the Kindle version. So just go to. You can go to my website and you can find any. It will direct you to Amazon or you can just go directly to Amazon and order it. But let me give you an idea of what compelled me to write this book. Because going back to the mind, the mind really is everything. It's how we perceive the world. It's our whole experience through our mind. And this is dictated by where your moon is placed. So it is the filter. And the moon also, let me remind you, represents the mother in a chart. Because the mother is our first experience with feelings, emotions, the mother, we're in the womb, we feel the mother's feelings and emotions. We pick up on this.
And definitely our early experiences with our mother will determine many times, so many aspects of how we feel throughout life. Because the mother is here to give security and protection. But if a child came into this world and did not feel loved or protected, then the rest of the life will be trying to find love, Love, security and protection. And sometimes this does not come through some very positive ways. Because it can have a lot to do with addictions and problems, relationship problems. And just the way if you come into the world and you feel unloved and you feel insecure, that's how you're going to view the world throughout life. Unloved feeling like you are not lovable, you don't deserve love. And furthermore, different experiences of no trust, fear will be a part of the life, because that was the initial onset that filters into the mind and how we perceive our world throughout life. So it does deal with the issue of love and when it will dictate our basic instinct of how we react to the world. So this is all from how we feel. And this is. Originates from childhood. And this formulates our mind. So this is so important. And thinking about the moon, we look at the moon cycle as the new moon to the full moon to the waxing and waning cycle of the moon as the prospect of growth and decline.
And another thing about the moon, when the moon comes out at night, this is the time that we retire. We pull back, we reflect, we go to sleep, we dream, we recharge the. That's all the energy of the moon going into that secluded place. Because in the horoscope, if you look at the fourth house, which is relative to the moon, because the fourth house is relative to the fourth sign, cancer, and cancer in the fourth house and the moon, all are about security, home, mother, family.
And this is what we really Base our whole life on a sense of security and love and protection. So in this book I wanted to really go through all these different variables that can be seen in a chart concerning the moon. And I want to go over some of those today so you can better learn about your moon and in your chart. But one thing I do want to say, because the moon is the mother, that I dedicated this book to all mothers because through the love of the mother, this is going to be where the world is perceived as a loving, giving and beautiful place. So mothers have this power to give that to their children. And this is the power of the mother. So that's why I wanted to dedicate this book to all mothers.
And let me just start with saying about the moon, looking at the moon in your chart, and I've talked about this many times before. Is the moon isolated from all the other planets? If it is, that's the way the individual feels throughout life. A sense of isolation, separation from others. Because on some level this is what they felt and how they perceived the world initially. So another variable that's so important to see with the moon is. Is to see what planets are with the moon because it will influence the person's life tremendously according to what planets are conjunct the moon or aspecting the moon. And of course another variable is what house is the moon in in your chart. Because the houses give the area of life that will be the most experienced. So those that have a moon in the eighth house, it's not easy and they do have trouble with security and the mother, because the eighth house is the most difficult house of all. It's actually the house that deals with scandals, disgrace, humiliation.
And you're going to find that those that have had lives, that have experienced this, have the moon in the eighth house.
So another thing to look for is the moon with Rahu or Ketu. The moon with Rahu is extreme. And you're going to see many cases in this book of those that have Rahu conjunct the moon. And many people are famous. Especially if Rahu has conjunct the moon in the 10th house. This promotes famous fame, recognition, and not always a sense of peace of mind. Because Rahu moon does not give peace of mind. A certain individual that has Rahu conjunct the moon is Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. And guess what house it happens to be in? You're right, the seventh house. Marriage. Talk about intensity. Not only was she married to the President of the United States who was assassinated in front of her eyes, but soon after she married Aristotle Onassis, who was one of the richest men in the world. And he was a foreigner. Remember, Rahu can represent foreigners. And moon Rahu, this all came through her husband's. All of this fame, recognition and extremes and emotional extremes in life. That's Rahu with the moon. Her son, John F. Kennedy Jr. Had the moon conjunct Ketu, the moon being the mother. Well, his mother experienced great losses. Ketu can represent losses. His moon Ketu.
Are in the seventh house. And when he died in the plane crash, he was with his wife and her sister. So great losses in the area of relationships. And he had his problems. It's been known in relationships.
Some of the other people I want to talk about in this book that. That have incredibly interesting moon placements. Well, one is O.J. simpson. His moon stands alone from all the other planets isolated moon in the eighth house.
And on top of that, there are absolutely no aspects to the moon. Full aspects. Whenever you not only.
Have a. Well, he's got a very difficult moon in the eighth house, but it is what we call a kimodruma moon. Kimodruma means there's no aspects to the moon. And with that they say it's like a cracked mine. You feel disconnected completely and totally from the world. And if I might say, since the moon is the mother, obviously his relationship with his mother was cracked. Something was wrong. He did not feel loved. And that was his first relationship with a woman. And look at the violence that came out of it. Now, I'm not saying everyone's going to have that kind of experience with the kimodruma moon, but it is a very difficult placement.
Next I want to talk about are some of the moon's yogas. So let me open up the book and.
Some of the moon's yogas. Well, one thing I talk about a lot is that when the moon is associated with Mercury, because Mercury is also a planet that deals with.
How you think. And the Moon is your thinking, your mind, your consciousness, your awareness. And when you put them together by aspect being conjunct or opposed or. Or even in a parivartana where they're in each other's signs of rulership. Somehow when you have the moon directly connected to Mercury, you're going to find that the mind is in overdrive all the time, doesn't know how to stop thinking. And it can be a bit paranoid. As I looked into the charts of some very disturbed people that had Mercury either conjunct the moon or oppose the moon.
So it does create a sense of overthinking and sometimes it can lead to paranoia. So watch for that. Now, looking at some of the famous people I have in this book, you will find that Tom Cruise as well as Meryl Streep, fabulous actors.
Rahu, moon in the 10th house. This is fame, this is being in the public's eye. And some others. Jim Jones, which his moon and Rahu are so intense in the fourth house. So this is, this is Jim Jones was the one with the Jonestown where everyone drank the Kool Aid. What makes someone have such a powerful mind that they can make people destroy themselves? Charles Manson, another example of a moon Rahu. And in the 10th house, yes, he was famous.
Or should we say infamous. But this is the power of the moon with Rahu. Some other people that have just some amazing placements of the moon are Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges, Moon in Taurus, exalted in the 10th house, famous and an amazing actor won the Academy Award.
Michael Jackson, moon in the 10th house. Fame wasn't with Rahu. But the moon in the 10th represents massive fame. And I might say Tatum O', Neill, she won an Academy Award when she was just a child. She has moon conjunct Rahu. But I will say this, she has been known to say.
That she was molested as a child and yes, she blames her mother. There was no protection. Moon Rahu once again.
So looking at some of the yogas with the moon, I want to talk about.
When the moon is surrounded by planets.
Either sun second from the Moon or 12th from the Moon. And I'm talking the houses not being in the same house with the moon, but that does support the moon as well. The moon needs support when it's surrounded by planets. It feels good and people feel supported. So you're going to look at many instances of the moon being surrounded by planets. Another indicator which I love to talk about is the ADHD yoga. The ADA yoga is when there are planets either 6th, 7th or 8th from the moon. So in other words, it's going to be when you have the benefics though, opposite the moon. So when you have benefics opposite the moon, it's like those benefics which are Jupiter, Venus and Mercury by the way, opposite the moon. They enlighten the moon with their energy, with their rays. And ADA yoga will always bring success and wealth and money. By the way, guess who has it? Bill Gates, Adi Yoga, all the planets opposing the moon. So another, another Rahu moon, which many times can deal with, especially if it's in the Nakshatra. Of Chate Bishak, which is in Aquarius, can deal with addictions. And Robin Williams chart will be a prime example because he was known to struggle with addictions his whole life.
Some others born on an eclipse. Well, Donald Trump born on an eclipse, lunar eclipse. And there are many people of power that have been born on eclipses. This is a major turning point. And another example in this book that deals with an afflicted mind. An affliction is this individual has moon conjuncts debilitated Saturn. So therefore the moon conjunction is in Aries with Saturn. Tanya Harding, she was the Olympic skater that was there. Just came out a movie about her. Very interesting how disturbed she was due to the abuse that she had from her mother Moon Saturn, Saturn debilitated. So some other people this book also. I talk a lot about how important the moon is in terms of transits. And what I mean by that is planets transiting to the moon. And what I'm talking about is sati sati, because so many people have talked about sati sati. What is sati sati. What when Saturn comes to the moon. So it's when Saturn is before the sign before the sign of and the sign after the moon. And actually sarasati means seven and a half years. And if you look it up on the Internet, you will be afraid. So don't do that. They talk about it being the most vile, worst time of your life and it lasts for seven and a half years. I totally disagree. And I give examples of some very famous people that went through Saudi suttee. One who struggled tremendously.
It was Bill Clinton. And guess what time it was when Saturn was coming towards his moon, which by the way is in his eighth house. The Monica Lewinsky trial. And another example I use of Saudi Sautee, that's quite different is Jordan Spieth. And for those of you that love golf, you will know who Jordan Spieth is. He is actually.
Lives here in Dallas and he is friends with one of my sons.
But looking at his chart the day of the Masters golf tournament, one of the most glorious.
Gains in golf that you can achieve.
Saturn was exactly on his moon and he won the master. So sometimes Sadi Sati can give you that diligence, persistence to persevere and make something happen. But of course, his moon was in the ninth house, not the eighth house. So the house placement is vitally important. And a lot of things you're going to find just by all the planets, how they're relatively associated with the moon. Because remember the moon has to do with how we feel. And the choices we make in life are based on how we feel, who we bring into our life, who we like, because the way they make us feel. So feelings are so much apart. It is our emotional body that does determine so many things, including our health. Because if you are consumed with anger, eventually you're going to get sick. Because the body, it cannot take that type of negative emotion without wearing down. So our emotional body is so important. It's how we perceive the world, it's how we react to the world. It's our awareness and through coming to a higher consciousness. And many times this can be Jupiter with the moon.
The yoga's with the moon with Jupiter.
This can make one more spiritual, more directed towards higher consciousness. So you're going to want to look at your chart and analyze all the variables relative to where your natal moon is placed in your chart. And even looking at where your moon is. Remember in Vedic astrology we talk about Chandra Lagna, so we make the moon the ascendant and we see where all the planets are transiting relative to the moon to better understand our experiences from the transiting planets. It's based on from your natal moon.
And I also determine the best days to do events by where the moon is and its aspect in the sky to other planets. Whether it's being aspected by Jupiter or by malefics. This will determine whether the day is good or bad to choose certain events. I also note my way of doing this in this book, Moon Mind and Consciousness. So if you're interested in learning more about the moon, this book is something that I felt.
Compelled to write.
And it is available now. But if you would like to learn more and get very deep into Vedic astrology, remember I have a university. Go to my university website which is University of Vedic Astrology.
And if you would like to learn more about me, you can go to my website which is Galactic Center.org. thank you.
