Hi, I'm Joni Petrie, and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I want to talk about the secrets of the 12th house, because there are so many meanings that this house is rich with. And before I start, I always want to remind everyone that I'm taking a lot of this from my favorite book that I've written. And it is this book called Astrology, the Divine Order of the Universe. And I call it that because each house derives meanings by its placement in the order from other houses. This is like the order of how everything is divinely put together. So each house, each bhava in Vedic astrology is rich with meaning. Many more meanings than I ever knew before when I studied Western astrology. So let me clue you in on some of the meanings that are so profound and work unequivocally remarkably when you know these specifics. But I'm also going to talk about from house to house. So looking at the 12th house, it is the last house of the chart. It means it deals with endings, it deals with finalization of things. And many times it is the house of retirement, because that's the end of something before the new beginning. And when we end our day, it is also the house of sleep, because that's where we retire at the end of each day. So it also deals with dreams. So pay attention. When you have planets here, you may have prophetic dreams, especially with ketu in the 12th house.
But looking at the 12th house, in terms of it being the house, of how we escape from this world. And remember, I have an entire series already on the houses that I did years before on this channel. Go and review that as well, because I called this the Great Escape. Everything that deals with the 12th house is how we escape this world, either consciously or unconsciously, negatively or positively. So what are those? The 12th house can be endings, therefore it can be death. End of life. Many times it's like through sickness and old age. Whereas the eighth house is death, but. But it's more violent. The twelfth house is just death as it comes, as we deteriorate. And the 12th house deals with escape in terms of sleep. Sleep is how we escape the world. Death, sleep, going to the movies, believe it or not, because it's a way of escape in film. And movies have this relevance to Neptune because Neptune was discovered.
And silent movies and photography came into being. But Neptune is relative to the sign pisces, last sign, 12th house. So there's this relevance to movies and film and the ways that we escape this world. It's also hospitals Prisons, ways we escape the world, not so positive. And also ashrams in spirituality and spiritual bliss and meditation. This is a 12th house variable.
But another thing is when we travel and go on vacation, the 12th house can deal with foreign countries and foreign people. And I found that when transiting Jupiter, went through my 12th house. I traveled the world more than any other time, because that's what the 12th house is. But when we look at the 12th house in terms of from house to house, we're going to find some really deep meanings, because I find that it is the second house. Remember when. When a house is second to any house, it's going to be gains, because the second house is money. So if it's second to the 11th, the 12th house is the second house to the 11th. It's going to deal with money that comes to us through friends or through our oldest sibling, because the 11th house deals with the eldest sibling. So there's gains from this. We always think of it as the house of loss. But it can also mean charities and organizations that do well, because that's associated with 11th and 12th houses. So it deals with money from charities and giving and generosity. It is a house, I believe, that deals with forgiveness. Letting go, it's the end. You're at the end of life. You don't care about some insignificant argument you had with your spouse. You forgive, you let go. You're ready to merge with the collective unconscious. Because the 12th house is what is beyond this world. And that's why we don't understand it. It deals with things that are not relative to this earth plane and dreams, imagination. This is a deeply profound house. No, it is not only the house of loss. Get that through your head. This is loss. But it deals with endings before a new beginning. And many times it can deal with the boundaries beyond this world, which is through meditation and spirituality. Now, also.
This is the house that can deal with secret enemies. And so I find so many people with malefics in the 12th house. And here they have people at work that talk behind their back, or they may have a propensity to being robbed, either robbing information or robbing their home or their car. They got to be careful. So that's another thing, but one thing, because it is the ninth house is the father and the fourth house is the mother. If you count four houses from the ninth, you will arrive at the 12th. So this can be your grandmother from your father's side, your paternal grandmother. Revelations about her will be in the 12th house.
Now, one thing that is scary about the 12th house, especially being a mother, is thinking about it, can mean loss of children. That I've seen this so many times. This is a variable to consider. And hopefully with this information, possibly even avert things, because it is the eighth house. Remember, the eighth house deals with death. It's the eighth house from the fifth house. The fifth house, meaning children count from the fifth house, eight houses away. You arrive at the 12th. And I found so many times people lose their children when difficult planets are in the 12th house. Now, this doesn't have to mean death. Don't get me wrong, many, many times I see through marriage, through divorces, where one of the partners with the Planets in the 12th House lose connection with their children.
Many times I see it as that. But I have seen difficulty as death to children with the 12th house. And that's the scariest part. But remember, this information can sometimes help to avert things. That's what you have to know, not just see something in a chart and white knuckle it till it happens. You've got to take action. We do have a certain amount of free will. But the 12th house can deal with this. This is a fact. And you have to know the realities of what these houses and what life is about. It is about these things. So another interesting thing that needs that, that can be extremely helpful with looking at the 12th house is it is the sixth house from the seventh. Remember, the seventh house is our marriage partner, our spouse. The sixth house deals with health and healing. So this can give indications as to the health of your spouse. Especially if you're wondering about spiritual surgeries or mishaps or things of that, or worried about their health, look and see what's traveling in the 12th house. It would tell you about their health because it is the sixth house counting from the seventh, and it deals with the spouse's health in particular. And you know, one of the things that that very interesting, that's relative to why the 12th house is the house of loss, is because it's the 12th house from the 1st.
The first house meaning you. So the loss of self, meaning endings in your life, that is the 12th house. But you know, many people that have a lot of planets in the 12th House, it represents solitude, being alone. They may be professors writing papers, researchers with a lot of planets in the 12th house, or believe it or not, even an astronaut or somebody that wants to travel beyond this world, that's the 12th house.
So the 12th house.
Is the house, I think that is the strongest, probably the strongest Moksha house, which Moksha Remember, the Moksha houses are 4, 8 and 12. They deal with spiritual liberation from this world.
And the 12th house is the last and final frontier on this life, when we let everything go and we merge with the collective unconscious. That's the 12th house. So rich with meaning, so in depth.
So spiritual. So don't forget, the 12th house can deal with so many ways of escape, such as movies and, you know, one I left out even is called the house of bed pleasures. Now, we may take this as sleep, but I think when the Vedic astrologers wrote that, they were actually talking about the sexual experience. And yes, they this is a time when we can merge outside of ourselves to unite with another. And that's what the 12th house is. It's really everything that happens behind closed doors.
