Stop Reinventing The Wheel! The 5 Containers That Each Build a Million-Dollar Business

Julie Chenell breaks down five revenue containers that each support a million-dollar business, drawn from working with 400-500 coaching clients. High-ticket asynchronous mastermind, weekly live webinar to course, application-based webinar, live launches, and paid workshops. She says execution and ad spend matter more than a perfect plan.
Welcome to Million Dollar Grit, the podcast that dives deep into the world of entrepreneurship, where tenacity meets strategy and dreams meet reality. My name is Julie, and I explore the raw, often overlooked truths of what it takes to succeed in business and in life. It's not just about the glossy success stories, it's about the grit it takes to get there.
Hey everyone, this is Julie. Welcome back to Million Dollar Grit. It's been a little bit, it's been a couple weeks. My life has been absolutely bananas, but I wanna talk specifically about something I posted on Instagram. I also sent an email, and it's kind of popping off, and it's this concept of reinventing the wheel, specifically around business plans and marketing plans. Here is the backstory of where this idea came from. I had a client come to me and say that the strategy I gave them was premature, meaning I hadn't really gotten to know their business well enough to be able to generate a strategy. And this comes up a lot because I do 15-minute calls or I'll do 30-minute onboarding calls and people think, well, how could you possibly figure things out in that short amount of time? What I have though that most people don't is the vantage point of working with hundreds of clients. I have so much pattern recognition at this point that within 5 to minutes of talking to someone, I am remembering 5, 6, 7 other clients who were in that exact same situation and what they did to get out of it. And there are really about, I don't know, 5 or 6 different ways that you can create predictable revenue online. And are there more? Probably. But according to my pattern recognition of let's say 400 to 500 private clients that I've worked with closely for a year in their online business, I've boiled it down to 5. And I started to explain what those 5 are. I'm going to do it here today as well. And I just want to encourage you not to reinvent the wheel. And with Claude and ChatGPT generating marketing plans and funnel plans and all of these complicated plans that Let's be frank, we probably wouldn't build on our own if it wasn't for AI that was generating it. They look so official and they look so right, and they are almost all way, way, way too complicated. You need to do one thing really well long enough until it cooks with momentum. And when I mean cook, I was working with a client the other day, Wendy. She's running a low-ticket funnel and she wasn't really giving the funnel enough ad spend. And I use the word cook because it feels a little bit like the funnel is a pot of water on the stove and you've got the, you know, the burner on low, but you're like anxious for the water to boil. And the question is, why not just turn the water on? Like, why not just turn the burner on high? Like, get it to cook, you know, get, get it to that rolling boil. And I think that's what people do with paid ads. and funnels is they dip their toe in the water thinking, okay, I want to get some reassurance and some validation. But honestly, the reassurance and validation doesn't usually come until you are— the burner is on high for a solid month. And most people don't have the nervous system to do that, quite frankly. But if you do, if you create the strategy correctly, if you create the funnel correctly, if you have a good offer, then you should feel comfortable turning that burner on high, giving it a month to cook, and then seeing what the results look like. That was where I got that idea. And if I had to start over and I had to create a million-dollar business, and I'm just using that because it's easy to remember, what are the patterns? What are the strategies that I would deploy? And that was the email I sent out. And I want to go through each one of them in a little bit more detail today. The first one is my model, the High Ticket Asynchronous Mastermind and Hybrid Coaching Program. That is a mouthful, but it is the model that I have run for 10 years. And this is the model that pays me a predictable salary month after month after month that has allowed me to get bank loans and other things that you need when you're on a W-2, because for whatever reason, the world thinks W-2s are more trustworthy than entrepreneurial, you know, owner's draws. This is the model. I'm actually going to teach this model again this fall. I rolled out a course called Scalable Coach Method back in 2023. Many of you bought it. I have a new update to it, mainly because AI came out pretty soon around that time, and it has changed the way I run my scalable coaching business. That's going to launch sometime this fall. If you go to scalablecoachmethod.com, depending on when you're listening to this, it may be a waitlist page, it may be a registration page, it may be a sales page, but that is where you'll learn this model. The pieces and parts that make this work are It is a high-ticket model. You're selling private one-on-one coaching. So think, you know, $6,000 or more, probably. You want rolling enrollment, which means people can join anytime. The coaching is asynchronous, and that basically means that you are coaching over text and audits. You also are possibly running an ER calendar model, which I've explained that as well. If you go to my Instagram and my highlights, I explain what the ER model is. And you can sell this type of coaching through a webinar, or you can just sell it through daily sales marketing channels. And it has built a beautiful $1 to $2 million coaching business that I think a lot of people envy. And I'm like, why not just do this model? There are some downsides to the model. The primary downside is that you are actively coaching. I do not recommend you do it if you don't want to coach, but if you love coaching, it's a great model. The second container I would pick up and try would be a weekly live webinar to a course. Or software or possibly a program. And we could argue the semantics, the differences between a course and a program, they're pretty similar, but the price point would be somewhere between $500 and $2,000. This is the model that Funnel Gorgeous is running. This is probably the most popular model that I deploy in my clients' businesses. I've got so many clients that have built really predictable income on this model. The pieces and parts that make this work. It has to be some sort of scalable offer, course, program, software. It does need to have rolling enrollment, which means every single week you're running that webinar and you're inviting people to join. The price really does need to stay between $500 and $2,000, and it must be sold through a choreographed webinar and done live once a week. Those are the pieces and parts that make that work. Lots of people running, you know, $50K, $60K months just on that model. Model number 3 is similar, but slightly different. It's still a webinar, but it is going to an apply now rather than a buy now. And we do this usually for programs that are more expensive, you know, $2,000 to $4,000 range. A lot of times this would be rolling enrollment group programs. I'm thinking about my client Lynette. She runs an amazing fitness business accelerator. It's about $3,500 or maybe it's $4,000 now, and it's running off of a webinar where you apply. You can do this one, you should do this one live, but you can also do it on demand. And like I said, the price is, is that $2,500 to $4,000 mark, possibly $5,000 mark. And you're going to need some sort of sales call or DM conversation to close. The 4th model is live launching. And live launching works really, really well. It's just very tiring. You have to keep doing it over and over and over again. And if your warm audience gets tired of the same offer, then you have to build new audiences or new offers. You can run a live launch at pretty much any sales price. I mean, the higher ticket ones get harder, but you can do pretty much any price and you have to continually keep growing your audience. I love the live launching to launch something brand new. And I love the live launching if you have a program that is in kind of a weird price point for a webinar, like it's a little bit less expensive. However, it's very, very tiring over time. The 5th model, a little bit less common but still very effective, is a paid live monthly workshop or biweekly. I actually really like it biweekly. Every 2 weeks you run a paid workshop, so you're running a funnel that is a paid workshop funnel. The beautiful part about this is you're getting buyers, you're not getting leads, and this works really well if you're, if you're wanting to sell something that's very high ticket on the end. I've seen people do this where they sell that high-ticket item right there without a call. And I've also seen where people sell high-ticket to a call. The person I'm thinking of, if you don't know her, her name is Katie. She runs Strong Brand Social. She ran a paid workshop called F the Algorithm, sold a program off the back of that very effectively. You absolutely need to run ads. You absolutely need to build that low-ticket workshop funnel correctly. You need an order bump. You need an upsell. You need a tight backend. And of course, just like the webinar, you need to be willing to do that paid workshop over and again every 2 weeks or every month. Those are the 5 models I'd pick up to build a million-dollar business. They are not hard. I've basically explained them to you in 10 minutes, no 50 pages of Claude needed. And you might mistake the ease of the strategy for the ease of actual execution, and that's where you go wrong. That's why so many people actually need a coach, because I can say this is what you should do, but actually executing it to the threshold that you need is where all the work is. Do not be impressed by 50-page Claude funnel documents or marketing plans or agency plans that have all these ascensions and different products. A lot of it is smoke and mirrors. There are a couple that I'm not mentioning here. They're less common, but they have worked. Multiple low-ticket funnels connected by automations running off of ads. That does work, but you need multiple of them. You need one that sort of runs as the front end, one that you're willing to not make any money on so that the back end ones create profit. I also have a client who makes a million dollars on a summit per year, but honestly, that's like half of her business is running that summit. That's a very large lift. You have to go all in, right? You have to put all your chips on the table. And I do have people who do some free challenges to live launches, but honestly, once they pick one of the more evergreen strategies that I've already talked about, they give up on that stuff because they're like, this is so much work when I could just do a webinar or I could just do a paid workshop. And I'm like, exactly. Every single one of these containers, my goodness, can create a million-dollar business on its own. Don't be impressed by things that are complex. Be impressed by the thing that is simple and then execute it with as much perfection as you possibly can. And then come back and tell me how it worked. Chat soon.
And there you have it, folks. Another dose of Million Dollar Grit. I hope today's episode has left you feeling inspired, equipped, and ready to face your own entrepreneurial journey with resolve.
