Is Canada opening up about recruiting Indian professionals

An Indian immigrant in Canada explains why getting hired is just the start. You need "Canadian experience" from entry-level jobs to learn the workplace culture: professional, polite, hierarchical, conflict-averse. He also warns about harsh winters and social isolation.

So this video— this is my workstation. I was just watching Narendra Modi and having tea in the evening. It's snowing outside, and I came across this nice article on DNA.
Okay, so it says Canada, the new comfort, comfort of new dreams. So it said it might seem strange, but the biting cold of Canada is far more appealing to an Indian techie than the balmy beaches of Florida. And US President Donald Trump has to do a lot with the change in preference. For one, Canada is much more inviting to migrants than the US. And second, its flourishing science, engineering, information technology sectors are opening, open about recruiting Indians in highly skilled jobs of business analyst, mechanical engineer, software developer, and project manager.
Yeah, it's, it's opening up, but I want to tell you one thing: don't be so flattered by this whole thing. What you have to come here and acquire is a Canadian experience. Though the people are opening up and Indian education and Indian experience is well recognized in this country, but even then you have to— there you have to gain the Canadian experience. Experience, which is a thing that you have to have here. Once you land, it's not that easy. What I'm trying to say is not that easy. So don't go by these articles all the time. So it's— I'll send you the link. It's a very well-written, very well-researched article, but it does not speak of the true life of Canadians, of immigrants who come here. It does not speak about how to— how you integrate, how to integrate into the society, which is very important. And for that you have to gain some, uh, Canadian experience, which is— which can be, uh, by, you know, like working in Tim Hortons, working in a, in a, in a shop, working in gas station, whatever it is, for 6 months. So you have to gain the Canadian experience. That's what I believe it, um, you know, unless like it's really changed, the work culture has really changed. That's the last time I— when I worked, that was when. So for the past 4 years I am also out of the works Not four years, two thousand sixteen, two thousand eighteen, three years, two thousand eighteen, two years. I've been out of the workforce, so I'm doing business on my own, and I'm following that Canadian called work culture while doing business. So this has a distinct work culture where you have to be very professional and very polite to your coworkers and employers, and you employees, you should not be treating them like they are your personal properties, like the way it happens in other parts of the world. There is a hierarchy and people respect that hierarchy, but it doesn't make you feel like— it doesn't mean that you feel insecure so much that you're constantly shouting at your co-worker, I mean colleagues, and those who are, you know, junior to you and making, um, your work ambience very bitter. You cannot do that over here. So you have— even if you have to say something, you have to suggest in a polite way. In fact, I have problems with my son because he's been brought up in Canada and I have to be polite with him and I— when I'm suggesting some things because he thinks I'm not polite enough, but which you have to be over here, right? This work culture is very, very different. So in fact, when I go to India these days, I kind of have to— after reaching Delhi, I put on the India cap and then I land to Delhi because though Delhi and Indian work culture has improved a lot, but there is still strain of You know, like somebody telling you something very rudely or something. So that those things, you know, even you encounter them after a few years, then you feel very jittered. But in Canada, the work culture is completely different. The ambience is totally different. But I will tell you one thing, it's not an easy ball game to come and work here. It's once you get used to the cold, the biting cold, and once you get used to the lack of having a life in Canada. Unless you are in groups and able to socialize in groups, it's very difficult to, you know, like combat the loneliness and the depression that comes with the lack of life. So you have to constantly figure out something to do, something on your own. And either you're working and then coming back home and you're doing something— you have to do something constantly to be occupied over here. And it's tough being here, it's tough, but it's a lot more peaceful than a lot of other people or other places on the planet, especially USA. I would suggest that USA is really a bad, bad example. So okay, so here's our Prime Minister. I still respect him and I still think he can— he should be given a second term. And I don't know about you guys, you guys are there, you are there in the eye of the storm. So you'll be able to understand better. But what we can figure out from far, that he has done a lot for the country and he should be given a second chance. But I'm not really lobbying for him.
This is just thinking aloud.
Okay, so keep writing to me at catchat51@gmail.com.
I'll give the link below and I'll also give the link of this article below which you can read and you might Want to, you know, understand better Canada better. See you guys.
