In this informal vlog, Kaberi Dutta Chatterjee reports from Kolkata, noting a sharp decline in mask-wearing as COVID-19 cases recede. She contrasts earlier observations (50%–30% mask usage) with the current scene where almost no one wears masks, highlighting bustling streets at 8 p.m. The conversation shifts to India’s massive vaccination effort—over a million people vaccinated—and the country’s export of Covaxin and Covishield to neighboring nations. Kaberi shares a personal anecdote about purchasing twenty colorful Indian masks to bring back to Canada, mentioning diplomatic exchanges where Canada requested Indian vaccines. Throughout, she expresses strong pride in India’s handling of the pandemic and its global role, while encouraging viewers to wear masks as long as they wish. The tone is conversational, enthusiastic, and patriotic.

Hi everybody, how are you doing? So I'm still in Kolkata and I'm reporting from Kolkata. So it's, it's still one awesome to be in here and see that COVID is disappearing every day among people. I'll just show you, when I came here there were 50% people, 30% people not wearing masks, and now, uh, and 75, 75% people wearing masks. Hello! Now you will see 30% wearing mask.
Nobody is wearing mask. No one actually.
See, everything is open and operating like clockwork. Nobody is wearing mask.
Do you see that?
Do you see any mask? One person. So thereabout, this is one person, another person not wearing the mask. He's just hanging it from his chin.
So Means the other days somebody told me, is there any restriction to wear masks anymore?
Which means India is going on a drive. I heard there are almost— they've almost vaccinated 1 million people has been vaccinated, and the India government is passing— is donating Covaxin and Covishield to neighboring countries. How many people are wearing masks and how many are not? People are just on the roads. It's 8 o'clock in the evening and people are just—
the roads are normal. So the point is, you see, is India has mastered COVID. Really mastered it. Even if they have suppressed certain numbers, it doesn't matter because those numbers don't seem to matter anymore. Because now people are getting vaccinated left, right, and center. Like my physiotherapist already got vaccinated. And I know a lot of people who got vaccinated, so it's becoming, uh, it's like people are getting vaccinated everywhere.
And, uh, really it's not a big deal anymore in Kolkata. So frankly speaking, even I don't feel like wearing the masks anymore. So we are, we are already— let us celebrate mask-free Kolkata. Free life. Hey, I already like bought myself twenty masks from here. All colorful masks all over, hanging all over. So I bought myself twenty masks already. Very attractive all masks from here. Planning to take them back to Canada. But but Canadian government asked Indian government for masks. For sorry vaccination. My apologies. Okay, I've reached home. I have to direct the drive. But Indian government has Canadian government has asked India government for the vaccination, so which means in all possibility I will be going to Canada and getting co-vaccine or co-issue. So it's a win-win situation for India in the world global market, which I am so proud of. Yeah, I love Canada too, but I'm so proud of India. I'm so so proud of India. And take care, guys, and wear masks as long as you want to. Right, right.
