In this brief on‑location monologue, the speaker points to the horizon and describes a thick layer of smog caused by distant wildfire smoke. They note that while the sky farther away appears blue and the area is partly clouded, the horizon is completely obscured by smog—a visual phenomenon rarely seen in Canada, where clear blue skies are the norm. The speaker remarks that the visibility has slightly improved but the smog remains a striking contrast to typical Canadian weather.

As you guys can see, the horizon is completely— this is smog, and this is the wildfire smoke that is over here on the horizon. I think it's slightly clearer now. You can see the blue sky over there, so it's just filled with clouds, but on the horizon it is totally smog. That's the kind you see— we get to see. You do not get to see in Canada at all. It's usually a blue sky. So the smog is coming from the smoke.
