Cool cabinet. There's a pop of color inside. Here's what I bought. This is a 19th-century piece. Pieces like this are rare, but the same rules for spotting value apply to every piece in this market. Here's what I look for. Welcome to Paris Flea Market. It's so classy here. There's actually Small-scale showroom that you go into and you find your treasure.
I'm—
I feel like I'm on a treasure hunt because there's so much. Ah, I have to take it all in. It's just amazing out here. So let's go check out the flea market. If you're buying antique furniture, look at how it's made. True quality pieces are assembled by hand with insane craftsmanship in the base work and wood carving. Everything in here is entirely made by hand and assembled by hand too. I love all the light fixtures. Look at the base of this table. It's like a piece of art. This coffee table is from the 1920s. Look at the bronze. It's absolutely stunning. I mean, everything is stunning. I feel like a kid in a candy land. The craftsmanship is really nice. Yeah, because when I was looking at this piece, I'm like, what did they use this for? Yeah, so it's early 20th century, and they— it was a collection cabinet, right? You would put your collectible in here, whether it was stones or anything else. That's so neat. I mean, look at this. Look at the wood carving here too. I'm very attracted to wood. Another quick trick to spot quality: check the edges, the precision of the metalwork, and literally feel how heavy the doors are. When a piece is made to perfection, you can instantly tell. This sideboard is made to perfection. When you come close and look at the details of the metalwork, it's just perfection. I have never seen anything like it. It's made by a French artist. It's a stunner. So look at the way this opens. Like, how sleek is this? So when I close this, when you look at the edge on top where it meets, It's perfection. Here's another cool cabinet. There's a pop of color inside, which is a really nice surprise. All the shelving inside, I love it. Very soft. It's a soft color palette, but very colorful, and I'm all about colors, and this showroom does exactly that. Glam, unique, One-of-a-kind pieces with color and whatnot. Now, how do you style vintage pieces so your house looks timeless instead of dated? The secret is mixing eras, pairing '50s, '60s, and '70s furniture with contemporary artwork and sleek lighting.
What I present, it's '50s, '60s, '70s French and Italian furniture.
Yes.
And we also present in my shop Contemporary artists, like for example this painting. Yeah, French painter.
Nice.
This is a contemporary artist. It's Valérie Courtet. We do this kind of ceramic. For example, this this armchair. It's a German designer from the sixties.
It's very sleek.
The German spirit, a little strict.
Yeah, yeah.
And we also do this kind of tapestry. We are contemporary work.
Mm, it's beautiful. Don't be afraid of pops of color or statement art. Unique color palettes and tile artwork bring so much life into a space. It's a really cool piece. When you open, it's a pop of color. Another— I mean, but how cool is this? Uh, ta-da! Here's a very unique coffee table. This is also vintage. And I turn around and look at this sideboard. It complements the coffee table. We know this is superb quality because as I open the door, they're very heavy. I mean, quality is everywhere in this showroom. Again, nice use of colors. Love the green curved sofa. Love the chandelier. One of my favorite styling tips is giving old things a brand new job in your home. Check out these 2 antique treasures I bought for myself. This is a 19th century piece. Basically what it was used for, they used to put coals in here and then put like a dish on top to keep your food warm back in the days. It's a really cool take. And then I also bought— I've been wanting these for a while now, like for a very long time. And I think I found the right one, the old iron that we had centuries ago. This is again another antique item that I bought. I've been wanting these. I mean, you usually get them in the, you know, the color brass, but I love that this is all one color, and I love the metalwork and the carving on it. It's absolutely stunning. So I'm happy with these 2 What I would want to say, don't be afraid to go in and ask questions. Everyone is super friendly. They explain things to you so nicely. I would suggest that you go into the shops that you like first and then kind of come back to whichever one you liked, and then, you know, go into that, take your time, see what you liked, and then, you know, Go and purchase whatever you want. If you ever visit, here's my ultimate tip so you don't get overwhelmed. Browse first. The real skill isn't finding the piece. It's knowing where it belongs in your home. That's what I do.
