Kareen Mills describes complications from a spider bite that sent her to the ER five times. She took multiple rounds of antibiotics, had an IV vancomycin reaction called red man syndrome, developed a staph infection and cellulitis, and kept a detailed bite journal through it all.

Okay, spider bite and bug bite updates. I just finished my 5th round of antibiotics. Yes, you heard that right, 5th round of antibiotics from a bug bite or a spider bite above and beyond my IV antibiotics. This was me on my 2nd trip to the emergency room on a wheelchair getting my IV antibiotics drip. called vancomycin, and vancomycin gave me a reaction called the red man syndrome. It was a hellish 1 hour while they finished the drip, but every time I finish an antibiotic, it always swells back up. It led to staph infection and then cellulitis of the skin, and that cellulitis of the skin was very painful. This was me getting that reaction from the IV.
