One of the most toxic things you can carry home from the grocery store isn't even a food. It's the flowers sitting right by the register. And I know how that sounds, but there are more and more studies on this— roses especially. Most cut flowers are flown in from places like Colombia, Ecuador, grown under a heavy wall of pesticides. And unlike your food, there's no legal limit on how much they can spray on a flower. None. The exact chemical levels that should be illegal on an apple are totally fine on a rose. So the moment you bring them home, they sit there releasing all of it into the air and you're breathing it in. And people go and do the worst thing with them. Here, honey, smell this. And they breathe it in deep. Just look at the people who actually grow them out in those fields in full hazmat suits, gloves, respirators, covered head to toe like they're handling something radioactive. And then that same flower gets handed to you to press right up against your face. I'm not saying throw out every flower. I'm saying the imported ones are basically unregulated, so buy them organic or local when you can. Send this to whoever is buying grocery flowers regularly and follow for more of what nobody's warning you about.
