What if I told you that there's a seated exercise you can do while sitting that will actually improve your health? It's called the soleus push-up or calf push-up. A study in 2022 showed that contractions of the soleus were able to lower glucose levels after a meal by 52% and insulin levels by 60%. The soleus is a unique muscle because it mainly uses glucose and not glycogen for its fuel. So if you're busy working, or if you're traveling on a long flight, or you can't go for a walk, you can still stimulate the soleus muscles by doing a soleus push-up as demonstrated here. You can literally do it for hours and not get tired while sitting there, lowering your blood pressure levels from this simple exercise.
