Katharyn Havens compares homeschooling to an ecosystem where children are plants needing the right conditions to thrive. She introduces her "Radical Reset," a mental shift to identify priorities and build your foundation. Filmed from Kenya's Maasai Mara, she shows how learning happens anywhere, even on a nature walk where they spotted hippos.

Did you know homeschool is really like an ecosystem? And we've all had that same thought that the ecosystem is just to bring school and put it at home, but in reality it's so much more. It's creating the right environment where everything works together to create the synergy. It's really— it's like thinking about your kids like plants, and they need the exact right environment, the right soil, light, sunshine to thrive. And I'm recording now because I happen to be standing in one of the most amazing and beautiful ecosystems on Earth. I'm at a tented camp in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. And if you hear some sounds out there, that's the hippos. I'll have to show them on the video. But I want to make the point that Not only can school happen anywhere, as we did today, we went on a nature walk and we've also learned all about hippos. But creating your own ecosystem starts with you, the mentor. So it's really important to figure out what is it that makes you thrive. That's why I always promote starting with a mind shift, with Radical Reset, so that you get your bearings as to what's really important to you. And if you know that, that's how you start to lay the ground, the framework, and build your ecosystem so that your kids can really, really thrive. And not only them, but your family bonds will also become stronger. So I'm going to do some more videos from the Mara, show you what it's like here. But just remember to keep that in mind, that you're building your ecosystem. Cheers.
