Most professionals have not learned the eight essential skills required if they want to build a rewarding and impactful career they love. To get you started, I'm sharing some quick tips to master these skills. Skill number one Communication Skill if you can't communicate your ideas and thinking in a clear and engaging way, you simply won't progress as well as your counterparts who can do this with ease and confidence. So my tip? Ask three people whom you admire to share candidly about how you can improve your communication approach. Skill number two Building beneficial relationships. Typically, you can experience success professionally. If you're an island, you need others. If you don't have supportive relationships in your work, you just won't thrive. My tip Reach out today on LinkedIn. Also, get to know your work colleagues better. Offer recommendations. Engage with others. Share your thought. Leadership Start to build a robust community now.
Skill 3 Decision making people make scores of decisions every single day. From what you prioritize to how you show up in your zoom meetings, to what you ask for in terms of a raise and a promotion. My tip here is understand exactly what you want going forward and start building your confidence, boundaries and your own sense of worthiness so you can make the right decisions that will attract and sustain what you want most in your life. Skill number four Leadership I don't know about you, but I never received one scrap of training in my 18 years of corporate life about how to be an inspiring leader. But it's key to your professional success to know how. You have to learn how to empower and motivate others to follow your vision and for that you have to engender trust and loyalty and a sense of belonging. My tip Start by becoming more self aware. It begins there. Ask yourself Is my behavior and communication style really motivating and inspiring people towards a common goal? If not, what has to change? These and the other four essential skills are all topics I passionately work to help professionals master in my courses and training. Head to the link in my bio and check out my coaching courses and speaking programs as well as all the free resources that I've created to help you build more success and reward. And stay tuned for the next part to learn about the 4 remaining essential skills you need to master.
