Kathy Caprino, Empowerment Coach for Professional Women

Transcript of a talk (likely by Kathy Caprino) addressing common professional crises faced by women and offering steps to reframe challenges as opportunities for growth. Key points: recognize and stop denial, avoid over-identifying with a single role, and say yes to opportunities that align with your energy; focus on self-trust and self-mastery to bridge professional gaps.
A brand new day, a brand new way.
Many, many professional women feel gapped, feel that they're not able to move forward in a positive way on their own. In fact, this research study has shown that there are 12 common professional crises women face today. And they reveal again, a breakdown in a relationship with themselves or others, the world or the higher self. So today we're going to talk about exactly what do we need to do? What are the thoughts, what are the beliefs, what are the actions, what are the words that we need to say and take so that we continue on a path to thrive? And again, what that implies is whatever challenge comes your way, we're looking forward to embracing it. Not as yet another obstacle to overcome, but in fact a lesson, an opportunity, a chance to be more of who we are, more of who we came here to be, more of who we want to be, and more of what our real essence is about in life and work.
Educating, celebrating my heart and mind.
Reaching.
The world, hearing some new points of view.
What do we need to do in order to avoid these 12 crises that many professional women are facing? What steps can we take now, today, right as you even leave this room, or right in this moment, what do we need to do? Well, the first, the most important step, I feel, is get out of denial when things aren't working. So often professional women, when they're faced with a situation that doesn't feel right, that doesn't feel good, that makes them think, my goodness, this is not working. Professional women often think they're the problem, that they need to fix something within themselves. What I'm suggesting here is to reframe that, look at it a little differently. Perhaps it's not something you need to fix within yourself. Maybe in fact, what isn't working isn't supposed to be working. So what we have to do now is look at what represents a disconnect and look at it honestly and understand what it really means for who you are and the kind of work you're doing and the talents and gifts and abilities that you have. Second step is remember that you're a multifaceted individual. You're not just one thing. It's so essential that we in our professional lives avoid over identifying with any particular function, role, aspect or dimension of who we are. The third piece is say yes. Say yes to new, exciting endeavors, challenges, responsibilities, projects, anything where your energy says yes. I want to do that now. Often.
A brand new way to work and play and sometime just for me. Yeah, yeah.
What we're going to help you focus on today is to look at what's challenging you, the obstacles you're facing, the conflicts, the difficulties. And we're going to reframe them. We're going to look at not how they're holding you back, but how they're going to allow you to move forward. We're going to look at what they mean in terms of where you might be gapped. Gapped in your ability to trust yourself, gapped in your ability to see that you are powerful and in control and that you have self mastery. So we're going to look at these challenges and uncover all of the rich information that they represent for you in terms of where you can grow and change and modify so that you can be all you're meant to be today in this job and at home.
Just for me? Yeah, yeah? Oh, it's a brand new day?
