An excerpt from a YouTube discussion (Kevin 'KD' Dorsey interviewing Matthew Roberts) about retaining and motivating SDRs. The speaker emphasizes that SDRs leave when they cannot see career growth, so leaders should provide clear growth plans, promote from within, be transparent with teams, and document processes to keep reps motivated and retain top talent.

I talk to SDRs every single day from an interview perspective, just chatting. And a lot of times it's like, what are they leaving for? Because they didn't see a path of, you know, growth. They didn't see what was next for them. So talk about a tough job already where you need to be motivated every single day to do well. There's nothing that. There's nothing that you're chasing after going forward. Like, man, that sounds awful. And so, yeah, a growth plan is crucial to making sure that your team is motivated, inspired, has something to look forward to. You're building that, you know, promote from within helps, you know, retain your top talent, but also bring in new talent. Like, if I look at a company and see people being promoted and stepping, climbing through the ladder, hell yeah, I want to work there versus the company where I see everybody leaves after four or five months. Like, so as far as, you know, steps to take there, I think one, the biggest thing is like, being very open and honest and transparent with your team, which is, you know, again, to documentation, have stuff to share with them.
