ASC Advisory Council

Susan Faulkner and Robert Bush welcome new members to the Arts & Science Council's five advisory councils, created to carry out Charlotte-Mecklenburg's Cultural Vision Plan. The councils represent geographic districts, cultural institutions, and corporate and foundation donors, and members are asked to share expertise and activate their networks to identify needs and build solutions.

Hello, I'm Susan Faulkner, Chair of the Arts and Science Council Board of Directors, and on behalf of the ASC Board of Directors, Robert Bush, President of ASC, and I want to welcome and thank you for serving on an ASC Advisory Council. With your help, we want to continue to build deeper connections among the many individuals and institutions that are committed to our region's cultural community. Robert and I believe that arts and culture are linked to a healthy and growing regional community, and your ideas and perspectives are critical as we move forward together. Now, since the release of Charlotte-Mecklenburg's new Cultural Vision Plan and recommendations from the Cultural Life Task Force, ASC's board has been working to respond to the vision articulated by the citizens across all of our communities. In response to the need to build stronger regional communities by building bridges and increasing dialogue and understanding, the ASC board has now created 5 new advisory councils. 3 representing geographic public sector districts, 1 for cultural and educational representatives, and 1 to represent corporate, foundation, and private donor interests. These advisory councils are designed to provide continuous feedback and input between ASC and our community. Together, we need to listen, learn, and lead as we work to shape the future of our cultural community. Now, your active participation is critical to helping build a vibrant cultural community for all, and Robert and I want to thank you. Robert?
I want to add my thanks for sharing your passion, time, experience, and energy to help us shape a direction for our regional cultural community. Your voice will help shape how the advisory councils and ASC work in the future. You have an important role to play. We invite you to share your experiences in your specific business or industry and community. We are interested in your perspectives on needs, opportunities, special projects, facility needs, and the community as a whole, as well as finding collaborative solutions as well as novel approaches to problems and issues that emerge. We ask that you help advance the cultural sector at large by activating your network of business and community contacts On behalf of us all. More importantly, your ideas and opinions matter. ASC and our cultural community are growing and changing to make our region an even more vibrant place to live, work, visit, and play. Your contribution of your ideas, energy, and enthusiasm are critical parts of our future success. We are just at the beginning of our journey together. Susan and I, along with the entire ASC team, are excited about listening, learning about, and putting into action your hopes and dreams for our cultural community. Thanks in advance for the work you will do to make our community better.
