Chapters
I don't think there's any other profession like architecture.
Design and architecture is basically what we see all around us.
Anybody that goes into a building has an experience, and—
Design allows you the opportunity to create something out of nothing.
Interject personality, uniqueness.
Just create the environments that we live and work in.
I am Gen 3.
I am Gen 3.
I am Gen 3. Do I got a smile at the end?
Generation 3 is the 3rd generation of ownership of the firm.
It's going to be about heart. It's going to be about excitement. It's going to be about opportunity.
I'm excited for the new wave of leadership that's going to be coming into our firm.
And be able to provide that individual kind of spirit to a project.
When I think of Gen 3, I think of continuing the path that we're on now.
Pulling out the passions of our people, finding out how we can harness that into the designs that we do each and every day.
By creating really strong civic-minded architects, we are making an investment in the communities we serve, and that's what Gen 3 is about.
Is that okay? I feel like I've lost track of what I'm saying.
Can I take a moment to kind of—
From a collaborative standpoint, what we look for in an architect is for them to hear us. Boomerang has done a tremendous job here. The collaboration has been fantastic across our team.
To know that someone has your best interests at heart, even when you're not in the room, is something that's really special for us and something that we value.
I'm very pleased with what Boomerang does, not just in the design, but also with the community.
One of the things that I really appreciated about working with Boomerang was the diversity within the company.
They have been very intentional about promoting diversity from within.
That gives them a great opportunity to spotlight women in leadership.
And when we're trying to create a building that is so inclusive to a complete community, we need those voices to be able to speak into the process.
The most empowered that I feel at work is being able to see that representation of women in architecture.
We are seeing and feeling the conversation changing.
I know I'm always heard, and I'm excited for that mindset to be emphasized and made important.
Seeing someone like myself in a role that I would like to be in, I think helps inspire me.
The more opportunities there are for women in our industry betters our communities because our buildings are thought through in a different way.
Boomerang creates an environment that makes us kind of comfortable to design, comfortable to ask questions.
We're developing well-rounded young architects that are constantly bringing new ideas.
We are always working I'm in a collaborative environment.
Take the knowledge that our older professionals have seen in the field and bring it to the table for those who are creating and designing each and every day.
How deep can I talk about that? Architecture is a rapidly changing industry. Having the freedom to kind of like dive into anything new, any technology that is new, is great.
At the end of the day, for us, it's really about And when you build the whole architect, you're able to build the skills and marry it with the passion. And when you have that, you become unstoppable.
