The fundraising film presents a chorus of community stakeholders championing the Carolina Thread Trail as a transformative regional asset. Speakers emphasize the trail’s role in giving children and families access to nature, improving health and academic performance, and providing a safe, car‑free commuting option. They highlight the trail’s unprecedented scale—connecting 15 counties with over 1,500 miles of trails, greenways, and blueways, protecting nearly 30,000 acres, and delivering 250 miles of built trail in eight years—backed by $4.5 million in planning and implementation grants. Survey data is cited showing walking, biking, and open space as top‑ranked amenities for residents. The narrative stresses urgency: a limited window of 10‑20 years before natural space is lost, urging immediate action to secure a lasting legacy for future generations. The vision includes multi‑modal recreation—biking, paddling, walking, horseback riding—allowing users to traverse the entire region.

I think the Carolina Thread Trail is important to give the communities of this area and primarily the children the chance to get out and enjoy the woods.
A sense of urgency for why we need to protect areas like are being protected with the Thread Trail, you know, for the whole variety of reasons, whether it's health reasons, whether it is recreation, whether it's economic reasons.
15 counties connected by more than 1,500 miles of trails, greenways, and blueways. An unprecedented regional collaboration stimulating public and private partnership.
So I've seen numerous surveys of residents, and always walking trails, bicycle paths, and open space were the most sought-after amenities in any survey over the last 20 years.
With the Carolina Thread Trail, you won't have to drive your car to work. Being able to ride the bicycle to work in a safe way where you don't have to interact with the automobile is going to be a luxury like no other, and all cities are going to want to have something like this.
But there are actually some deeper health benefits that we're just starting to understand. When we're out in the woods, It relaxes us and I think it grounds us. Students that walk through a woods or a park on the way to a test do better on that test than their peers that don't.
Right now, the Carolina Thread Trail protects almost 30,000 acres of natural land. The Thread Trail's $4.5 million in planning and implementation grants started a movement that's tripled in size and is still growing.
We've been at this 8 years now, 250 miles that have been constructed, but the work's just beginning. We have to build many more trails.
Well, my dream is that whether you're biking, paddling, walking, or riding horseback, that you can start out at one point in our region and travel across the region.
It's a legacy, not a not any kind of sprint. But right now is critical path to continue the buildings.
We are all put on this earth just for a brief period of time, and during that time, if you can do something that's going to really last for generations and generations, this is really it.
So go out to the Thread Trail, take a deep breath of fresh air, hear the birds, see the wildlife, and realize that you are part of something that's bigger than us all.
The Thread Trail is such an important project and such a great opportunity for our region, but we have a very limited window to make it a reality because over the next 10 to 20 years we will have lost the natural space that makes it possible. And so the time to act is now.
