Charlotte Center City Partners won CoreNet Global's Carolinas Chapter Project of the Year for its downtown innovation hub. The 16th-floor space salvages diseased city trees into furniture, recycles materials throughout, and features a street-level storefront feel with conference areas and what may be Charlotte's largest whiteboard.

Cornet Global Carolinas Chapter Project of the Year. Congratulations, Charlotte Center City Partners.
Charlotte Center City Partners, its mission is the social, cultural, and economic development of the center city. And our focus is about creating this vibrant downtown that becomes bedrock and the foundation of a healthy regional economy.
We have created a space that allows them to bring in world leaders, you know, community leaders, to use the space beyond just everyday workspace.
Designers created the energy of a street-level storefront when you step off the elevator on the 16th floor.
Part of the challenge was how do we take the principles of sustainability and sort of impact the space, but ultimately always be able to tell a story.
Trees are important in Charlotte, and they really do tell the story of the city. Urban arborists salvage the trees that are diseased or have to come down, these large, gorgeous trees. They save them and they salvage them and turn them into art. I love this couch. They are actually called Haven couches.
It's the favorite meeting spot. There's some cafe tables that were recycled.
Other delightful workspaces? Large glassed-in conference areas, bar-like seating with city views, and possibly the largest whiteboard in Charlotte.
So we were looking for a way to divide the work area from the hallway, and JT, our designer, said this needs to be an art piece, and it also reminds us that we are builders.
The wood ceiling that was actually donated as part of the project, and we found a way to repurpose that into that coffeehouse.
It's part of what we promote and try to educate and, you know, why urban design matters so much. Urban design does matter.
Congratulations, Charlotte Center City Partners, winner of Cornett Global's Project of the Year.
