In a special announcement, Mark Reed, Head of School at Charlotte Country Day School, thanks the Klein family and three other donors for a $10 million lead gift to the Forefront Campaign. He reviews recent campus enhancements—including the Hance Lower School Learning Center, the Purdy Math and Science Building, the Dowd Student Center, and the Belk Library—highlighting how these spaces support innovative learning, research, and community life. Reed then reveals the next phase of the school’s long‑range master plan: a new athletics complex to break ground this spring, featuring a world‑class natatorium, performance gymnasium, strength‑and‑conditioning centers, a wrestling room, locker rooms, and coaching offices, all aimed at advancing student physical wellness and competitive opportunities. He closes with gratitude to the broader community for supporting the school’s mission.

Hi, I'm Mark Reed, Head of School, and I'm here to make a special announcement about a significant, impactful advancement for Charlotte Country Day School, one that'll create exciting new opportunities for our students. But I wouldn't be making this unprecedented announcement if it weren't for a $10 million lead gift from the Klein family and 3 other very generous donors who all participated in our Forefront Campaign. Before I tell you what's next, let's take a quick look at what we've accomplished so far. Our new Hance Lower School Learning Center is a joyful place to learn where students love to read while learning to be innovators and problem solvers in the makerspace. Passionate teachers and students are making the most of our new state-of-the-art Purdy Math and Science Building where students have the opportunity to conduct real-time, real-world research. The newly opened Dowd Student Center is a constant hub of activity and it will serve our students for many, many years to come. Beyond great food service, there are study halls, meetings, community events that are all routinely held in this new addition to campus. And our final phase of Forefront is well underway. In the Belk Library, we offer a relaxed area for students to hang out, much like a college library, but we also offer quiet areas where students can study and research. And that brings us to our future. I wouldn't be making this unprecedented announcement if it weren't for 4 very generous donors to the Forefront Campaign. Because of their trust in our faculty and staff, school leadership, and their belief in our mission, these donors wanted to step up in a big way to support students even more. Their additional gifts will enable us to fund and immediately begin construction on the next phase of our long-range master facility plan right here where I'm standing, furthering Country Day's position as a national leader in education. I'm thrilled to announce that this spring we'll break ground on a new athletics complex that includes a world-class natatorium and performance gymnasium. In addition, this new facility will house new strength and conditioning centers, a wrestling room, along with locker rooms and offices for our coaching staff. It will also allow Country Day students to train and compete in one of the best facilities in the state as we continue to pay particular attention to their physical wellness. Thank you to everyone who supported Charlotte Country Day School and the students we serve.
