The video captures on‑field moments and commentary from the 2013 Coach Tate Foundation Football Camp held at Eastburg High School. Participants—boys aged 6‑12—engage in typical football drills such as running back stations, 40‑yard dashes, and catching drills while coaches and guest NFL alumni (Roman Gabriel and Kedrick Goldston) speak about the camp’s deeper purpose. The foundation’s mission is framed around three pillars: scholarships, leadership development, and character building. Speakers repeatedly stress that football is a vehicle for teaching life‑skill values—selflessness, determination, hard work, and leadership—and that celebrating small successes fuels continued growth. The camp honors the late Coach Johnny Tate, whose legacy of community mentorship inspires the foundation’s work. Throughout, the tone is enthusiastic and inspirational, highlighting how brief interactions can shape young boys into future community members and successful individuals.

I'm a star.
Well, everyone's a star at the Coach Tate Foundation Football Camp.
I like the running back station. I like doing the 40. About catching right and being a good leader and showing others we can.
Wow!
The mission of the Coach Tate Foundation is scholarships, leadership development, and character building. And, you know, everybody goes, oh, this is football camp, but it's so much more than a football camp.
And yeah, there are some big football stars here. That's Washington Redskins defensive end Kedrick Goldston.
We use football to teach life skills. The game of football is selfless. It's about determination. It's about hard work. It's about leadership. And those are all important principles that help you to be successful in life.
I'm turning. Now watch my arm.
And that's Roman Gabriel, former quarterback for NC State, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Philadelphia Eagles. And this is really critical.
You have to believe in your talents and abilities, okay? Nobody can do that for you. If you don't believe in your talents and abilities, then nobody else will. Bringing Roman Gabriel and Kedrick in, talking to them about those kinds of character traits that are going to help them in their lives. We're looking for producing great community members down the road.
The kids are fired up. Ready to go, not only with the activities but with learning leadership. They are really focused on those core values that'll get your kids where they need to go. In and out, in and out, in and out.
Every June, the Coach Tate Foundation Football Camp at Eastburg High School touches the lives of boys aged 6 through 12. Eyes to see, ears to hear, mouth to speak less, So that I may learn more.
It's a lot of fun. Any chance you get to help kids and, you know, teach them football, it's a lot of fun.
This football camp is in honor of Coach Johnny Tate, the beloved Burke County coach who inspired so many young people through the years.
When he passed, I was so glad that we had a foundation for him and a place where kids could come and just be themselves and enjoy football.
I keep coming back because I understand that it wasn't long ago that I was, I was these children running around here on this field. Hopes and dreams of becoming a professional athlete, ultimately hoping to be a successful individual in society. So I understand this little bit of time that I take out of my couple of days could ultimately change these kids' lives and allow them to grow up and be successful human beings.
It's a celebration. Celebrate small successes. So I always try to encourage, after you accomplish Dance. It just motivates them to kind of go further when they can celebrate small successes. So we all must learn to dance in life.
