In this video segment, designer‑baker Brenna Shea walks viewers through an upcycling project for her French bakery’s new location in Atlanta. She discovers a discarded mantle at a ReStore/Goodwill, primes and paints it gold, then creates custom mosaic tiles to cover its surface. Using a drill and jigsaw, she cuts openings for an LED light strip, assembles a flat, functional chandelier, and shares practical tips—such as never washing grout down the sink—to avoid plumbing problems. Throughout, she emphasizes a playful, “look at what it could be” mindset, positioning the finished piece for installation at Ommley's (formerly Amelie’s) in Atlanta.

I'm Brenna Shea. I am a designer by trade, and I have a French bakery. We're just opening our 4th in Atlanta. I have a lot of things to purchase. I am a baker. Look at things not for what they are, but what they could be. I found a wonderful mantle at the ReStore, so I primed it and then painted it with this wonderful gold paint. I'm making my own tile. I am going to make a mosaic, and I'm going to piece them back together kind of like you would a puzzle. What I have in mind for this is to take my handy-dandy drill, drill holes where the lights would be, and then once I have the starter hole, I'll use my jigsaw and I'll cut the remainder of it out. So this will be completely cut out, and then I'm going to put a light in the back, and it will be an LED light that won't get hot. So I will have a chandelier that actually works. And it's flat. Where'd you get it? It was at Goodwill. I walked past it and then it called me back. So I came back and looked, circled it like a shark and said, it's ugly the way it is, but it has a lot of potential and it's coming home with me. I'm going to replace the tiles. It's messy, it's messy, but it's fun. I have never been afraid to get dirty or messy. Put these in place. When you are cleaning up your grout, never, ever, ever put this down your sink. You will have major plumbing issues and your husband will be really mad at you. I love the whimsical aspect. I love to have fun with my art. Next time you see me, I'm gonna be installing all of this in Ommley's Atlanta.
