Would you like to prevent cancer? Well, I've got a couple tips for you that you may want to incorporate if you're really interested in such. Number 1, eat more garlic. Garlic is the number 1 anti-cancer vegetable that there is. It kills just about everything— bacteria, viruses, hell, it even kills friendships. But if you incorporate more of this into your diet, you will lower your risk of developing cancer. And right along that lines to follow are onions. The more onions you consume, the lower your risk for developing cancer, because it also has some very powerful chemicals in it that are anti-cancer. And while you're making up your garlic onion casserole, you might want to sprinkle over a little bit of turmeric, which has the active ingredient curcumin. Curcumin is powerfully anti-cancer and has a rich body of research demonstrating that. They use this out the wazoo in India. and they have a lower rate of solid organ cancer than we do. I would highly recommend that you buy the spiced turmeric and sprinkle it over everything that you cook. And while we're talking turmeric, how about ginger, turmeric's cousin? This stuff has been used for thousands of years for many ailments, and preventing cancer is one of them. I would recommend that you find a way to either get some ginger tea into your diet, or even eat whole ginger, or use— or drink ginger juice. Ginger is very, very anti-cancer. And while you're eating these foods, there are other things you can incorporate, such as appropriate exercise. But it's not just what you eat, it's how you live your life. And living your life in an anti-cancer way means exercising. Get some activity. There's a rich body of literature supporting the value of appropriate exercise for cancer prevention. And get out in the sun a little bit. Get some vitamin D. Vitamin D is anti-cancer for at least 22 noted different types of cancer, so the higher your vitamin D level, the healthier you're going to be. All of these things— diet, exercise, activity— have a powerful influence on whether or not you're at risk for developing cancer. I'm Dr. Chris Nagy, helping you live your best life.
