Joan O. Wright and her husband Mott are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with seven others to raise money for water wells and leadership training in Central and East Africa. They've already raised over $22,000 for Sinai Global and African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries, organizations they've supported since witnessing the region's humanitarian crises four years ago.

Accomplishing significance is not just about accomplishing it for you only, but what significance will bring to others. In just a matter of a few weeks, my husband, Mott, and I will be joining 7 other climbers to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, a mere 19,341 feet. A true climb for a purpose. Our relationship with Central and East Africa began 4 years ago, where we had a chance to witness the most unbelievable devastation from genocide, famine, and the most unimaginable living conditions. During that trip, we met 2 partners, Sinai Global and African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries. These people, local on the ground, are the ones that are making a significant impact on what we saw. We felt responsible and we felt that we had to tell the world about what they are doing. Sinai Global, who build water wells, and Alarm, who develop leaders, are making a difference. The climb represents and symbolizes what's inside of all of us— hope and humanity. It's about what it takes to be strong, truly strong, in whatever you endeavor to do in life or in the good and betterment of others. Only then can we truly know significance. Thanks to families, friends, and colleagues around the world, We've raised over $22,000, giving families decades of clean water, orphans homes and education, and men and women of Africa funding and leadership training for their businesses and communities. This is a gift of hope for a future distinct from their past. We invite you to join this climb through our blog. Our sweat, our tears, our joys, and our fears. Every step we take, every foot we climb to the summit, we will be eternally grateful for what it is teaching all of us.
