Sally is just so genuine, so authentic. She's exactly what the Morehead-Caine Foundation is looking for for their scholars. She's just the real deal.
The Morehead-Caine was modeled after the Rhodes Scholarship. We're looking for character, leadership, scholastic achievement, and a commitment to physical fitness.
We opened the email, I basically fell on the ground. My mom started crying and my dad cried 5 times that night, and I'd never seen him cry before.
She's an artist, she's a tennis player, she's a big sister, a daughter.
I think there are lots of ways to be excellent at Country Day. That's one of the great things about the school. We have athletic leaders, we have artistic leaders, we have academic leaders, we have social leaders. There are lots of ways to be a superb Buccaneer.
I'm actually the president of the National Art Honor Society. This is something that anyone can relate to. Anyone can draw, anyone can paint, and so I think that universality really If I went to another school, I probably wouldn't be able to play the sports that I've been able to play here at Country Day. Winning those 4 state championships from freshman to senior year on the varsity team has been an incredible experience.
It's been a great past 5 years. We've had 4 Moorhead-Kane Scholars, all young women, in the past 5 years. They're authentic. They have done things in their lives for the right reasons. They have followed their passions.
This environment, these teachers love what they do. They love the children, and it's very apparent in the day-to-day. And I just see her embracing that and on a college level.
We have kids throughout the school who are doing the exact same thing. We may not recognize them the same way that Sally has, but they deserve it. We love them all.
