In a CoreNet Global Carolinas Chapter awards ceremony, the Sealed Air Corporate Campus was honored as Project of the Year. Speakers highlighted the campus’s design philosophy of blending with the natural landscape, preserving trees, and reusing cut wood for benches and tabletops. They described the workplace innovation of a "clean desk, open seating" concept that creates a paperless, collaborative environment across three buildings, featuring individual workstations, open collaboration zones, and soft seating to foster creativity. The campus also offers extensive health and wellness amenities, including a fitness center, bistro, coffee house, and on‑site health coach who advises on fitness, benefits, and insurance. The project team—developer Childers Klein, general contractor Shelco, and Stantec as project managers—was praised for delivering a stunning, employee‑centric headquarters that reimagines work life.
Chapters
Cornet Global Carolina's chapter honors the Project of the Year, the Sealed Air Corporate Campus.
We wanted to create a campus that looked like it emerged from the natural beauty and not something that was plopped down on top of the land. So we worked with the natural contours of the land, kept as many trees as we could. We wanted to reuse some of that wood that we, we had to cut down to build the buildings. We used rough-cut wood for numerous outdoor benches, and those are spread throughout the campus. And then we also created these beautiful natural tabletops.
And the campus really does sell itself in a number of different ways. We've set up individual workstations, we've set up open collaboration spaces, we've got soft seating, we've got comfortable seating to inspire enthusiasm, creativity, collaboration. One of the concepts that we've embedded here within our campus is called clean desk, open seating, and it was one of the biggest pieces of change. And what we wanted to do was to have our employees feel like the campus was their workspace across the 3 buildings. So in order to be able to do that, you need a clean desk with which to start from.
There is something incredibly freeing about being in a paperless, open seating environment. There is definitely an adjustment curve that you go through moving from a traditional office But once you get into this kind of open desk, open concept environment, it does make collaboration so much easier.
In the health and fitness space, we've got a variety of programs on campus. We've got a fitness center, and so we look to create a better way for life. So with everything from our bistro to our coffee house, we even have a health coach on campus that's able to advise on health and fitness related things. and advise on benefits and insurance. So we really are reimagining what we do with this new global corporate headquarters, and we really are creating a better way for life for our employees in addition to our customers.
We had an incredible team that came together to create this campus. Our developer, Childers Klein, our general contractor, Shelco, and our project management team from Stantec. We absolutely love it. The campus is just stunning.
Congratulations, Sealed Air, Cornet Global Carolinas Chapter Project of the Year.
