Over 400 people showed up to Charlotte's Summer Schmooze networking event, rotating through five-person tables every five minutes to meet businesses across the city. Five cultural chambers showcased music, dance, and food, from a German beer hall to local spots serving peach cobbler and a Nutty Mixed-Up Salad.
There are numerous businesses here. I've been told there should be about 400+ people here at this event, diverse interests, and so we just hope to meet them all.
With the different cultures that we have here in the city, we decided, came up with the name Connecting with Our Cultures. So we had 5 different cultures, the chambers that we pulled together, and we're supposed to have their song and dance and food here today.
The big brother Charlotte Chamber You know, they do big things. And Asian Chamber, you know, we're more focused on Asian community. You can see it. How do you like that? This is fantastic.
Well, our theme today is connecting with our culture, and this event is about connecting our chamber members with other chambers. That's what the chamber is all about.
We are a German beer hall and garden that focuses our attention on craft beers, homemade food. We're having a blast at the Smooze. We're meeting a lot of new people. We got a lot of people stopping by, checking out our food, and making some good contacts.
In the past 20 years, Charlotte has grown because of the large influx of newcomers from all over the world. We're very excited to be able to be a part of the changing face of Charlotte.
We love inviting people to our home here in the center of Uptown Charlotte. It's so wonderful to see the business community, and the Chamber is so great for us in allowing us to connect with all the people who may or may not come here as often as we do. So we're excited to have them here.
We're actually located one floor down here at the Epicenter. We do a lot of business, dining-in customers and catering delivery here in the Uptown Charlotte market, and we have one of our most fantastically selling summer products that we're showcasing this evening. Our Nutty Mixed-Up Salad, this is of course in a miniature version.
We're new to the Charlotte area. Today we have some fish and we have grilled chicken. We also have a butter rum cake and homemade peach cobbler. Everything actually is homemade with our macaroni and cheese as well. Yeah, you should try some.
Speed networking is kind of like speed dating, okay, but this way you learn something about more than one person. Speed networking is set up so there are 5 people at a table and you move every 5 minutes, but while you're at that table about 5 minutes, you learn about each and every company that's at that desk. So this is a way— what other place can you go and meet 20 different people, 30 different people at one sales call? So this is a big sales call.
It's a great way to meet a lot of people in a very short period of time. That's our goal. We want to make sure people get together. It's all about networking for the Metro chapter, and there's no better way to do it in a very, very short period of time.
