Tayuanee Dewberry GWU
In this testimonial, Tayuanee Dewberry explains why she joined the nonprofit Right Moves for Youth, citing her own experiences as a young person and her desire to help adolescents graduate high school with clear future plans. She describes how the business acumen and leadership skills she gained at Gardner‑Webb University complement her compassion, enabling her to serve effectively at Right Moves for Youth. Dewberry emphasizes Gardner‑Webb’s motto “for God and humanity,” noting that she takes this mission seriously and sees her work with youth as a direct expression of those values. She also shares a family legacy: her mother was a notable basketball player at Gardner‑Webb, she herself played basketball, and she wanted her son to forge his own path. Her son attended Gardner‑Webb, felt a strong sense of belonging, and she expresses pride in his positive experience, highlighting the university’s supportive, family‑like environment that challenges individuals to be their best.
