It's about every single person that we help. We can really see and feel the impact on their lives, and a lot of times it's not just on their lives, it's on the lives of their children and their family.
The thing that really has stood with me over time— when I was president, I asked a third-party independent evaluator to do research on our scholars to find out what happened to them after. The research was profound. We found out that our scholars significantly increased the amount of money that they made, the quality of life became better, and their, their own children were starting to go to college as well. Some of them have not only received great jobs, they have master's degrees, some of them have PhDs. They have just transformed their lives. This Wings initiative is more valuable than we ever imagined.
Our vision for the next 25 years is to be recognized as a champion for improving the economic mobility and stability of women and their families in Charlotte.
We're going to engage as many WEA members as possible, and we're going to ask them to introduce scholars to the community at large. Support of internships, possible job changes, and differing careers. We all know relationships and networks matter. We also know that social capital can be pathways to opportunity. These connections can be the transformation for a WINGS scholar.
