Kim Gaskill uses literal fog as a metaphor for the lack of clarity entrepreneurs experience. She urges listeners to identify and remove the causes of their fog so they spend less time stalled and more time moving toward their goals.

Good morning from Bella Vista, Arkansas. I'm Kim Gaskill and this is the Daily Spark. Fog. I am sitting here on the porch trying to watch the sun rise up over the mountain and I'm looking through the forest and all I see is fog. I can hear cars in the distance that are driving and it is not safe to drive through fog when it's thick like this. I know they can't see, and what makes them continue to drive through the fog? There's a lot of different types of fog, and it really doesn't matter what type of fog it is or what is causing the fog. The result is always the same— lack of visibility. You can't see through the cloud. So the safe Choice is to pull your car over, wait for the fog to lift. It usually only takes a few hours and then safely move on your way. But as entrepreneurs, I'm thinking, I'm always saying, I feel like I'm in a fog. My friends are always saying, I feel like I'm in a fog. You've probably said that. And what is it that causes that fog? It's probably the same thing. There's a lot of different things that cause the fog. There's a lot of different types of fog. That we experience as entrepreneurs, that lack of clarity, that inability to see where we need to go. That happens often. But if we're constantly pulling over the side— to the side of the road waiting for the fog to lift, are we ever getting to where we need to go? Are we being delayed too much? What's causing that fog around you? What's causing that fog around me. I need to identify the things that are creating the fog. I need to find out what types of fog are surrounding me, because then I might be able to reduce the fog by either getting away from the things that are causing the fog or removing those things from around me, trying not to do things that create that fog. But if I don't identify what they are, I'm gonna constantly be pulling over to the side of the road and waiting for the fog to lift. And I'm not gonna get to where I wanna go, and neither are you. So my challenge for you today: try and identify your fog. Try and identify those things that are creating fog around you and remove them, avoid them. Try to be surrounded by them less so that you spend less time pulled off the side of the road waiting for the fog to lift and more time driving to your destination. That's all I got for you today. Join me again tomorrow for another Daily Spark.
