It's a new day. I'm Kim Gaskill and this is the Daily Spark. Today I was sparked by a stack of books sitting here on the desk. I'm getting ready to work for the morning and I am at my nephew's desk and I'm looking at the— he's a big reader. I'm looking at the stacks of books he has here in his room, and it got me to thinking, you can really learn a lot about a person by the books that they have on their shelves. Now, I'm saying that with a little grain of salt because I've noticed lately a lot of my friends that are live streaming and setting up their little recording studios in their home, they're putting bookshelves behind them and they're staging them. And I say staging, I watch a lot of HGTV shows, but I, I'm talking about staging the shelf so that the audience gets an impression that the speaker wants them to get. I'm not saying that it's good or bad, that it's fake or real. I'm just saying that I've noticed a lot of people are setting up their shelves because we do kind of judge a book by its cover, pun intended, I guess. When you see the books that they chose to put on that shelf, when I look at the books that I see stacked here on his shelves, it does immediately formulate an opinion for me of what this person likes, what this person is like. Because of what they read. I wonder what people would think about me if they saw the list of what I read. And actually, you can see the list of what I read because I use Goodreads. I don't keep it up to date as much as I should, and I'm gonna go in there today. That's what sparked this, was I need to go clean up my Goodreads account. Get it current with what I've read over the past 4 or 5 months, and leave a few reviews. And if you don't use Goodreads, check it out. And if you do, check up on it. Have a great weekend, and I'll catch you again on Monday for another Daily Spark.
