Good morning from Gallup, New Mexico. I'm Kim Gaskill, and this is the Daily Spark. Leaving New Mexico, heading into Arizona today, and New Mexico is one of those states that is beautiful to drive through. I love taking the entire day driving across New Mexico and just being in awe of of the landscape. It's beautiful, it's majestic. But there's also a little sadness for me when I drive across New Mexico because there is a lot of breakdown. There are a lot of small communities that you drive past that are very old and dilapidated and run down, a lot of abandoned buildings and structures that are just about ready to disappear. They're in such bad shape. And it makes me sad. It makes me think how in the midst of all of this beauty did people let that breakdown occur? Did people let things get to such a sad state? And I think we do that in our business too. We're so wrapped up in looking at the beauty and the fun and all the cool shiny objects Sometimes we miss what's right in front of us that we need to pay attention to, that is breaking down right in front of us, and we don't see it until it's too late, until it's already broken, until it's so far gone it just disappears into the landscape. Like these old buildings and these old pieces of equipment just laying along the side of the road in these abandoned little communities. And I'm thinking, how did we get there? So on Wednesdays, I do a midweek check-in, and the members of my group do the same thing. We do a work block, buckle down, see how we are on track or not on track with the goals for the week. If we're behind, we buckle down a little, do a little bit of extra work today, pay attention to those things that are slipping through the cracks and get back on target. If we're ahead, we add a few things in that maybe weren't on our list this week, but now we've got extra time because we're on target or ahead of target and we can slide some of those in. It's just a momentary check-in to touch base and not let those things disappear into the landscape before it's too late. So I challenge you today, don't be blinded by the beauty and the fun and the shiny objects. Pay attention to those things that might be breaking down around you. See you again tomorrow on another Daily Spark.
