Welcome to a brand new day. I'm Kim Gaskill and this is the Daily Spark. Details. Details matter. You know, I'm sitting here watching two rabbits and two roadrunners chasing each other around a bush in this open lot and it's hilarious watching them play. Now I know they're playing because They are herbivores, which means they don't eat meat. So the rabbits are not chasing the birds to— for prey. So they're playing, and it's hilarious to watch them. Now, these rabbits are huge, and they have ears that are half the size of their body. So I call them a jackalope, which I know is not a real thing. That is a mythical beast and a made-up term. But for some reason, years ago, I got the term jackalope stuck in my head. So whenever I see these really huge-eared rabbits running around, I call them a jackalope. In reality, the true name is a jackrabbit. Now there's a couple different types of jackrabbits, and here again, the details matter. Because it matters when they're active, it matters what they look like, it matters how they react and like run from prey. So if you're a hawk trying to get out there and get your lunch for the day, the details matter whether this is a rabbit or a hare, which there's a difference, whether it's a antelope, rabbit, or just a black-eared jackrabbit? Because one jumps 15 feet and the other one doesn't. That could have a huge, huge impact if you're a hawk trying to hunt for food. Also, the difference between a rabbit and a hare. Rabbits don't necessarily leap. They hop a little bit, and they're quick, but they're not nearly as fast or as large as a hare. Now, that matters when it comes to habitat. They— rabbits burrow underground. Hares do not. They normally make a nest up above ground in some kind of COVID some kind of grass. Or bush, which the details about that matter if you're looking for this animal. You'd be looking in the wrong place if you don't know the details of what their habitat is like. You'd be missing out if you're hunting them if you don't know the details of how they react if they hear a predator. It also matters if you're going to eat the meat, the difference between a rabbit and a hare. Rabbit meat is pretty tender, um, and it's primarily a white meat. Hare, on the other hand, is like a game meat. It's darker, it's gamier, it's tougher. But you know, if I could jump 15 feet, I'd probably have more muscular meat in my body too. So there's all kinds of details like that the differences between a rabbit and a hare are just one of those silly things that it could be a huge difference depending on the person on the other side, what information is important to them. Sometimes the details about whether it's a rabbit or hare would make absolutely no difference. Me watching them out there, it really doesn't matter what it's called, they're all cute to watch. So the details don't matter. But if I was specifically looking for a species, or I was an animal predator hunting for prey, or if I needed to protect a habitat, the details of that would definitely matter. Are you paying attention to the details that matter? In your business? I hope so, and I hope to see you tomorrow for another Daily Spark.
