Welcome to a new day. I'm Kim Gaskill and this is the Daily Spark. Today is Sunday and I'm scrolling through my Instagram feed and I— the last week or so, it seems— now this could just be my imagination, but it seems like there there has been an overabundance of posts that I've seen from one particular account that sticks in my mind and in my eye more than anything else. It keeps popping up, and it's, it's from a food truck. It's called Forefathers, and it's a cheesesteak food truck. Now I'm from the East Coast, so there's really nothing that compares to a real Philly cheesesteak. I've had them all across the country and nobody really does it the same way. Some are close, but nobody really gets it right. And so I was here in Phoenix and I kept hearing about this Forefathers Cheesesteaks, and so when they had a weekend, like, park party, and there were a bunch of food trucks there. I went and the Forefathers truck was there, and so I tried it, and I have to say I was pretty impressed. They were really close and it was very good. And so they became my new favorite go-to place if I wanted a Philly cheesesteak. Well, since I've been laid up here since the accident The food is not good by any stretch of the imagination. And so I've struggled be— having cravings for, you know, types of food that I'm used to that I'm not getting here. I put in an order to Walmart. Thank goodness I had it delivered, so I have some groceries here, fresh fruits and vegetables, things that I can snack on. But I have ordered out a few times It gets a little expensive and the choices are few, but I keep seeing these Instagram posts of a cheesesteak advertisements from this account because I've been craving one. Now, am I seeing it just because I'm thinking about it, so I'm noticing it more, or am I actually seeing more posts showing cheesesteaks? That's the dilemma. Now I know that I don't need one, and I know that if there was a way for me to get it, which they don't deliver them, um, it would cost me a fortune trying to get somebody to get one here to me. And then I would eat it, and the next day it would be gone, and it would, it would satisfy me for a moment, but it's not something that I really need. But I'm thinking, why is it we always want what we don't have or what we can't have? We seem to yearn for those things more than what we have right in front of us. Is it because of the familiarity of what is common and familiar to us? We just take it for granted, we get bored. Or is it something else? What are the things that you are craving, that you want, that you can't have? And are they things that you need? You know, our brain, if we listen to it, satisfies us, what we need. Our heart usually satisfies what others need or something superficial. And my heart really wants a cheesesteak. But I'm gonna refrain and not pursue it. I'll just be happy looking at the Instagram posts for now. But you can bet when I get out of here, one of the first things I'm probably going to do is hunt down the food truck and get me a cheesesteak. I'll catch you again tomorrow for another Daily Spark.
