It's a new day. I'm Kim Gaskill and this is the Daily Spark. I had a friend send me a message on Instagram asking— it was a list of 61 National Parks, and the question was, how many have you been to? So I responded back to her, actually it'd be easier for me to list how many have I not been to. Out of the 61 parks last year, I was shy 11 of hitting all 61 national parks. Actually, there are hundreds of other national trails, monuments, heritage sites, and reserves, but the actual national parks, I've pretty much hit them all. I wanted to do them all last year. It was going to be a challenge to get to Samoa. That is a very difficult place to get to, but with the accident happening, that kind of put a halt to that journey that I was on, and So now this year I've got to regroup and I want to try and hit those other 11 and finish out that goal. You know, just because we don't hit our goal when we think we should or when we want to doesn't mean that we can't achieve it. So I've had to tell myself that, and I hope that if you are in that situation where you have a goal and you think you need to give up because you can't meet it on your time frame, maybe look at it again and just adjust your time frame. At least that's what all my friends have been telling me. And when it comes to the national parks, if you have one in your state or close to you, go visit it. They're amazing places to go and build memories and find appreciation for so many things. And even state parks— I've been to so many state parks that are actually better than some of the national parks. So check out what you have available around you and go set that up as a little day trip for you and your family sometime soon. Catch you again tomorrow for another daily spark.
