Kim Gaskill talks about finishing small tasks instead of letting them pile up. She argues 80% done is often enough, and recommends dedicating a day every week or two to knock out those lingering 5-10 minute items.

It's a new day. I'm Kim Gaskill and this is the Daily Spark. Do you finish what you start? If you're like me, you have a hundred things going on all at the same time, all the time. But I have to really work on finishing everything that I start. Every couple of weeks I have to look at my list and I notice there's 20 or 30 things on there that they're only a 5 or 10 minute finish, but they're still on my list. Like, why did I not finish them? So I'll have to take a day and that's all I do that day is finish all those items. You hear it all the time, 80% is good enough, done is better than perfect. When you're an entrepreneur getting things out there, when you're a content creator, timing is very important. So if you sit on things and don't get them out there, you're gonna miss your window of opportunity a lot of times. But I have a problem putting anything out there that's not my best. Even though 80% of my best would be really good most of the time. But for some reason, I don't finish a lot of the time. So I have to make a, a conscious effort to go back and make sure I finish all those little things. And it doesn't even have to be work things. It's just little things like making a phone call or sending a piece of mail. Or running a couple of errands that I keep putting off. I've done everything on the project, and then that final thing of, you know, mailing something to somebody, it'll take me weeks and it'll sit there. That's just one of my things. I hope it's not one of yours, but if it is, try to make a conscious effort every week or every 2 weeks, look at your task list, and if there's a lot of stuff that seems to pile up that you've started and it just stays on the list forever and never gets done, pick a day that that's all you do is get those things done. Today is my day for that. So you have a good one and join me again tomorrow for another daily spark.
