It's a new day. I'm Kim Gaskill and this is the Daily Spark. Are you making the most of your day? I'm watching the dogs this morning and they are just crashed out asleep on the couch. They look super comfy and it's tempting to go back to bed, I'm like, that looks really, like, pleasant. Maybe I'll do that. But I can't. I'm not one of those people that can wake up in the morning and then go back to bed. Unless I'm really not feeling well. Once I'm up, I'm up. And I like to get up early so I can have the most of my day available to me to have things happen. To experience things. I'm watching the dogs this morning, and their routine is they sleep with their humans, they get up around 6, run down the stairs, run to the back patio door, and want to be let outside. They do their business, they come back in. If they don't get anything to eat, they hop right into their respective couch positions and they go right back to sleep. And I mean sleep. They are out. It's funny when they get into a dream state and then their feet twitch and their eyes twitch. You can tell they're dreaming, having their little doggy dreams. I wonder what they dream about. But I got to thinking, they don't have a lot of daytime hours that they're awake. They sleep most of the day. Now when they're up They're active. They eat, they run around, they play, they wanna, you know, run outside, do their business. I'll throw a toy, they'll run after it a couple times, and then they're done. Once they get a little bit of attention, once they get a little bit of food, once they've gone outside and gone to the bathroom, they're pretty much done with that little activity spurt, and then they're back on their respective places on the couch, which are basically just big dog beds. And they're asleep again until something wakes them up. They bark at something, somebody coming, and as soon as that's over, they've worn themselves out. They want something to eat again, and they want to go back to sleep. And even though they look really cute asleep over there, I'm thinking they are wasting most of their day. I don't want to do that. Even though it looks comfy, all crashed out on the couch like that, I wouldn't want to waste the majority of my day sleeping or ignoring opportunities that are out there. I want to get out there and experience as much as I can. I want to be awake for as much as I can. How about you? Are you like the dogs? As soon as whatever you need to do is done, you're crashed out again, or you're chilling, or you're sleeping, or just shutting yourself off from the world? Or are you taking every opportunity to stay awake, to have your eyes open, to be out in it and experiencing it as many hours of the day as you can? I hope it's the latter, and I hope you join me again tomorrow for another Daily Spark.
